The best strategy, IMO, is to look for ways to unite and blend together as many of these unrelated objects as possible. Reduce the amount of contrast, don't increase it. Less is truly more. Comments (4)I would rearrange your furniture and rug so that everything is centered on the fireplace which will open up walkways for both doors. See layout. Using this new layout, I would look at swivel chairs so they could face the tv as well (assuming it’s in the cabinet). For fabric, I would look at leather/pleather or a fabric with no pattern since there is pattern in your drapes and rug.
