I tackled a wicker table this past spring. I sanded with sand paper and a wire brush it but it had too much chipped paint so I power washed it, let it dry for a few days, primed, then spray painted - 2 coats. The table sits outside on the front porch. It's holding up well.

Cyn - You said what I was thinking: the chair style could look like Grammy's house but with the right fabric it would be renewed. I just don't want a "discordant" look. ideefixe (a Francophile?) - That Anthropolgie sofa is exactly what I was thinking of but in chairs! palimpsest - I've always loved Art Deco, but never indulged in furniture just some accessories. Found an Art Deco fully upholstered chair (think club chair on steroids). It currently is upholstered in two solid fabrics - red and tan - that I would change to Ikat for the seat/back and a solid for the outside. If only it were still available - no response from the owner...

I guess I'd say its soft contemporary. I think the barstools are more modern though. The room with the TV- well some of that is more Mission/ comtemporay blend. The couch in there- designers all say "are you keeping that?" So I know its a bit tacky but I don't care. But I really hate the farm table with my stuff. The rug in the dining room is not my choice but its what I've got. $2500 max. I have a friend that can get me a good deal on Saloom. If money were not a factor, I think I'd like a tulip table and this Saarinen chair. However, I have to be realistic. I haven't seen a nice knock off of that chair, or tested it for comfort. Yes! I wondered about marble mixed with capiz. I fell in love with an end table at Target almost identical to the one you have pictured here. I was just unsure about marble and capiz combined. Lots of good, inexpensive options if I go that route!
