BM White Dove walls with Chantilly Lace trim/ceilings bad idea?
Comments (0)Hi we are building new house - modern/open concept but not ultra modern. Was recommended to do Chantilly Lace trim/doors/ceiling and paint White dove for bathroom walls, kitchen cabinetry. However I've been reading that white dove while a versatile and lovely colour can look bad next to a truer white eg. White tile, toilets/tubs, chantilly lace, so now I'm worried about areas where these 2 are going to be side by side. Ideally I want a warm but versatile white not creamy and it would be nice to have the same ceiling/trim/door colour everywhere. Should I reconsider these colours together? Or will they be just fine? Bathrooms I could have different trim/ceiling colour but it gets tricky in open concept kitchen, dining room and family room. I can't do paint swatches and don't have the millwork done yet - just have to pick a colour and go with it as this is construction for a whole house. General colour scheme for what has been selected so far: natural oak and walnut millwork, oak floors, black frame windows, tiles grey/greige/white/soft white colours. I've looked at both colours and while I like them each separately not sure about putting them together but I'm looking at paint chips only. Appreciate any advice as I am starting to go crazy researching white paint!!...See MoreDecorators White or Chantilly Lace with Jacobean floors?
Comments (11)Thanks so much for all your feedback! I have already stained my floors Jacobean and used a water poly.. I do want a brighter white. I'll attach some pictures in case that helps! We do plan on paneling up the fireplace or painting the brick /wood panels white .the Jacobean did stain a lot darker on the staircase for some reason..will put a runner on the staircase . Staircase north facing , family room south facing . As far as decorating, I do generally like more neutral colors..lately my rugs/furniture have ivory, light rose /light blue, and wooden tones..some grays but I think I'm transitioning out of gray. I like how decorators white has some modern flare but definitely looking for brightness and something that will look beautiful no matter what if that makes sense ......See MoreWhites Dilemma! Comments (3)You need to bring a sample of that countertop into your space and see...with your lights on and with the daylight that your kitchen gets. There are many posts here regarding a "white" countertop not reading white after all. Since your trim is SW already, I would check first before committing. And paint a sample board with CL and see that against your countertop choice also. AND your quartz sample might not even match your actual slab perfectly. ...whites are tricky....See Morepalimpsest
