Comments (3)Jeanne, what a WUNNERFUL collection of pictures and plants! It truly is exciting to have something growing in one's yard that is utterly unique, be it a sport or a seedling. The fun with seedlings is not just the seedlings themselves, but also the planning and anticipation of things to come.... I'm eager to try a couple of crosses this year, but realize only too well that you need seed before you can get seedlings and seedlings need time to mature and show their true colours and form. Hope springs eternal and oh, the anticipation.......See MoreHosta Mini 2014
Comments (45)I am enjoying the great display of Mini's. I especially love McTavish's huge collection displayed with all the rock accents. Very nice. I was surprised to see how unusually tall the flowers were on Peren.all's Blue Mouse Ears. Comments (8)when hybridizing ... a great way to start.. is to set a goal ... what do you want to make ... do you want to put an edge on small plants.. or want to grow the next giants ... then you pick a momma accordingly ... do you want to add white. or yellow .. again .. whether you want a yellow streaker.. or a white streaker ... etc... etc ... it doesnt have to be all that complicated ... it just sets you in a direction .... and.. small plants .. mature faster.. so you can get on with your goals ... bravo was always one of my faves ... though i had to dig it up every other year.. and get rid of non streakers ... and do understand... you get your next great edged plant ... from baby streakers.. which eventually settle out ... so it can take 3 to 5 to 7 years. for that to happen ... and thats why i avoided playing with giants ... i realize its more than you probably want to think about.... but just have fun ... ken ps: yes.. galaxy is a good one.. but if you get a single division.. you get one scape next year ... and it might be 2 to 4 years.. before you get the second division.. and the second scape.. etc .... thats my point also ......See Morelindalana 5b Chicago
