Comments (16)I have a different take on this house. I find the 2 tudor peaks odd. There is no other Tudor detail anywhere else on the front of the house and while the peaks are the same shape, they have different detailing. I would change this so that the peaks look exactly the same, maybe adding a window to the left side. I would replace the Tudor details with decorative siding and paint the same colour as the trim. As for painting the brick, I would start by painting all the trim a lighter colour (including the peaks) then see how it looks. This is a very pretty house and would look better in a light colour. But because it's a big decision, perhaps go in stages and leave the decision to paint the brick to the very last. Good luck!...See Moreexterior renovation HELP!
Comments (4)Charming, charming home. It's going to be lovely. Baby steps though when starting out. Don't do anything too drastic that you may regret. It's safe to prune the overgrown bushes and have the house washed to see the real color of the stone. The house may end up one of those flagstone and white paint lovelies, but take your time. Check to see what's going on with the bay roofs. Maybe they were something else at one time and sprouted leaks. Roof looks like its in good shape You'll need a completely new landscaping plan but that can be done later. The success of this home will be in the details. Comments (2)First, remove the shutters, they are way too small for those windows. Next, paint the front doors to get rid of one of all those clashing red colors. Navy blue might look good here. Next, you need to change either the roof or the house color. A grey roof would be easier to work with. But if the roof is still in good shape, take a look at Romabio limewash for the brick. When you are ready for structural changes, in addition to the pillars, I think you need to look at widening the front steps and improving the front landscaping to work with the beautiful trees behind your house. And is it possible to add a roof deck to that one story part on the right side of your home? (you would have to access it by turning a window on the right side into a doorway). There is a lot to do here, but since you are happy with the interior, you can take as long as you need to update the exterior at your own pace....See MoreJanet Fraser
