shower molded into concrete slab. help

I’m remodeling my bathroom in my split level Colorado home. There is roughly a 4” recess for the original shower from when the house was built in 1961. (See photo). Prior owners turned this shower into a closet many years ago for financial reasons I am sure. I gutted everything due to rot/mold and am planning to redo the bathroom in the same way it was originally designed.

My questions are
1.) can I reframe the shower the same as I found it?
2.) should I replace the 2” cast iron drain with PVC?
3.) there was no moisture/vapor barrier on the foundation wall previously, should I add going forward? If I do this will be the only place in the lower level with it.
4.) the concrete is sloped properly toward the drain in all directions, can I tile directly to the concrete? This was how I found it and how my neighbors house it tiled.

Now I have found several different answers to my questions from various sources. I am treading cautiously because I personally have never redone a shower that has the pan molding into the slab before. Any suggestions and input is welcome.

Thanks!
