Anyone else watching 'Episodes'?
Comments (7)Watched the first 3 "Episodes" yesterday, in anticipation of tuning into last night's show with DH, who finds it hilarious. I love the dry Brit humor, and loved the "Beverly & Sean" banter. Any event, got busy and missed last night's show. DH was telling me how funny last night's episode was, etc. Thought it might have just been my mood yesterday... So, I watched this week's episode this morning On Demand while pedaling away on my indoor bike. There is just too much "Joey" in Matt LeBlanc. The "Joey" factor paired with the arrogance he plays in this new series, I just couldn't get into it. The rest of the cast falls flat as well. I think this will be a series that DH will be watching solo....See MoreDoes anyone else watch 'Rehab Addict'?
Comments (24)I liked her earlier shows more than the ones since the $1 houses began. I think it all started with the Minihaha (totally misspelled I'm sure) house. After that one she's cheezed out on stuff more, probably because she sank a LOT into that place and didn't really get it back. The latest one (I think), omg I would have been all over all that stuff! I have an old sunbeam mixer like the one they found in that house-although it's in my attic and I use my 4C kitchenaid instead since I have some of the Hobart attachments for it. I also don't care for her color choices. black and white, black and white...gray...and the latest house, the exterior, with the detail work painted in pink and the house brownish-ick. There's a house in the city we used to live in, that had similar details, but the whole place was painted various pink/maroon shades with some white, and it looked MUCH better. ALTHOUGH, I have to say, DH laughs when we watch it because I'm a lot like her with salvage. There was one episode that involved her collection of old doors and she said something like "why do I have all these old doors" and before she could answer herself I said "because they're so cool" or something like that-then she said the exact same thing (I'm having an issue with storage of salvage myself, with a small house and no basement, although I DO still have a small collection of old doors anyway, lol)....See MoreAnyone else watch PBS's The Crimson Field?
Comments (10)He liked to say somewhat poetically that he served on foreign soil and heard a shot fired. That about sums it up. He was in the US Navy and patrolled the Great Lakes. One night, patrolling the Canadian side of the Great Lakes, someone fell asleep on guard duty, dropped his gun, and it fired. He came away from the navy a cribbage player, and the family often gathered around the kitchen table late at night to play the game, which he reminded us was a great pastime in the navy. The Crimson Field” title refers to the poppies pictured in the title slide of the show as well as the blood of war. And the poppies refer to the poem below written during WWI by a Canadian military doctor. I remember my father reciting this poem at the dinner table from memory every year when Veteran’s Day arrived and he bought his poppy that year, which he proudly wore for the rest of the month. The GreatWar 1914-1918 In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, May 1915 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields....See MoreLooked at Apple watches at the Apple store today
Comments (19)Not sure I see the point in an Apple Watch without cellular service. I'm looking forward to seeing the new models when they are in stores. If usable by a blind person, it will make it possible for DH to have connectivity at the gym without having to carry a phone. Also, like the idea of fall alert. (He once fell and dislocated a shoulder in a confusing and icy bit of construction on city sidewalk. I could have been on my way to him much faster with an alert rather than the time it took him to get sorted out and call me.) 2katz4me, the bands are fairly easy to change. You aren't stuck if you decide you don't like the one you buy with the watch....See MoreDYH
