has anyone used Elliot Coleman's version of gardening over hot manure

I have watched several of Elliot's webinar's and he's using an old French way of gardening in some cold place like Vermont or something and growing all year in a hoop house with no lights, no heat, etc and selling like crazy all winter to restaurants: carrots, spinach, etc.. It's an old method where you use hot manure, place sheeting over it or straw, then soil or dirt mix, then plant, with the manure keeping your veggies growing through the coldest winters. It's made him rich, and very popular. It's a brilliant idea by the French - He also has his hoop houses on wheels so he can move them as the sun moves - also brilliant - anyone tried it?
