Best paint brand/type for Sherwin-Williams paint color.

Hi. I’ve finally chosen Accessible Beige after 14 samples and hours of pouring over Houzz pics and Discussions. But, after reading the bad reviews on Sherwin-Williams paint, I’m confused. I’m going to do the painting myself, and can’t afford to make a mistake. Please help me choose a paint. It’s fot the entire house, except bathrooms and bedrooms. And also any opinions on flat versus matte Finish. Thanks for your help : )

Sherwin Williams is a decent paint. I have used both it and Benjamin Moore. Personally, I will never buy Benjamin Moore again, but many love it and use it all the time. You also need to be aware that bases are different for paint brands, so you may not get the same exact color in another brand, so its better to go with the Sherwin Williams. Reviews are not always accurate. A paint job depends upon the prep that goes into the project. Also what kind of paint is on the wall right now. Is it the type that needs a primer? Flat paint is less washable than matte. Matte paint is less washable than eggshell. Eggshell is less washable than satin, and etc. The sheen you pick is dependent on whether you have little ones that often put hands on walls, and will need to clean it often. It is also dependent on the condition of your walls. Anything with a sheen will show wall imperfections more. Flat or matte, will not show the imperfections so much. Also, I would want some type of washability in bathrooms and kitchens and in my case, my hallway, which always seems to have finger prints for some reason.

Well your home is going to be totally lovely! I like Dover White on a home exterior and in a shady spot. I used it just in the covered entry of my home and it looked so nice... It is just an all around good reliable color, in my opinion. The balance of my house was a more creamy white... and the way I got that color was to send a painter over to check out the color on a house a few streets over! My painter loved the Dover White and convinced a few of his other clients to use it. There's just something about that color...

@Lori...any thoughts on what paint colors (preferably sw or bm paint) I might want to peek at that are very similar to Accessible Beige as I am picking up a very slight pinkish/purple-ish tone that isn't completely desirable... perhaps something a touch to the right toward yellow hue on the color wheel but a similar chroma and lrv??

I am so grateful for all of the many helpful comments, thank you! Toni and Home Reborn, I agree with the suggestion to bring the paint chip to HD to match. Choe, thanks for suggesting Lori, so grateful she did chime in. @funcolors you really defined the issue for me when you stated that the base paints are different. Light bulb moment for sure! Thank you for creating that chart for me. It's really helpful. I'm going to print your chart and go to SW for a paint chip, then take it to Home Depot. At SW you can request the tint formula (particular to a certain type of base paint), the "color recipe" and they happily print it out. I've asked for this at Home Depot however, I have not been able to get it there. A different business model with less emphasis on that kind of service. However, I will add that the poorest customer service I've gotten at a paint counter is, hands down, Benjamin Moore stores. I love the BM counters tucked in neighborhood Ace Hardwares but not at the BM stores. Perhaps they are too busy... I have a lot of confidence in my contractor so I'm not worried about differences in quality. It's all about trade-offs when you renovate, or at least, when I renovate. I am prepared to be realistic and flexible in order to focus on the completion of my project. And absolutely Patricia, I'm looking for close enough and that will be good enough.
