Here are two rules that will help: 1) never open an email from an unknown source; 2) if you ignore rule 1, never respond to anyone promising you anything for free, or that you will get millions of dollars if you just pay the delivery fee, or that you can get a real deal on [fill in the blank]....See MoreStationery bike or outdoor bicycle
Comments (4)Jenn, I am completely sold on both stationery bike and outside bike riding. I do spinning (in a club--I don't own a stationery bike) three times per week for aerobic exercise and have reaped numerous health benefits from it. I also ride outdoors, weather permitting, to get moderate exercise (around the neighborhood) or endurance work (long distance rides). So my recommendation to you is to get both! As to what kind of bike to recommend, there are many factors that come to play. I suggest you go to two or three sports/bike shops in your area, check out their stock, and have a salesperson fit you to the bike. Explain what your needs are and note different types of bikes (racing, touring, etc) so you have a sense of the different weights, tire width, handlebar configurations, etc. You can get very few gears but if you are serious about cycling, especially indoors, you'll build up strength and endurance quickly and may very well want to try a longer-distance ride, a trail, a hill, etc--and then you will want gears. It does take a bit of learning, but not a great deal. Newer bikes are much easier to shift than older versions. Anyway, by the time you visit several shops and compare, you'll probably have a very good sense of what to purchase....See MoreGel Memory Foam + DC-area mattress store recs?
Comments (0)Hi all. I'm launching a mattress hunt. My brief: I'm a stomach sleeper and I've always liked a very firm mattress but am nearing 50, getting achey and heavier, pressure points matter a lot more than last time I thought about this issue. The bed needs to accommodate one person and a rotating cast of dogs. 2 questions: 1) I'd planned to steer clear of memory foam because I don't especially care for my mom's thick m-foam topper, which I've tried, and because of the concern about heat. I'm much more prone to overheating than under - approaching menopause, sleeping with dogs - not likely to get cooler around here any time soon. Today, though, I stopped at one of those discount chains to see what the current range from the big-name makers was, and I kind of fell in love with the firmest model in Serta's iSeries line. It's an innerspring mattress with a very thin layer on top of memory foam with gel mixed in - just enough to cushion the pressure points. The gel mixture is supposed to solve the heat problem with the memory foam. I basically don't believe that for a minute, but I wondered if anyone had had any experience with the gel-foam combos - either in this line, or the iComfort, which is gel foam all the way through, or another brand's version. Any opinions? 2) For those in the DC area, are there any mattress dealers you'd particularly recommend? I was going to check out the latex mattresses at Savvy Rest Natural Bedroom in Vienna, and the ones Room and Board sells. Any other specialty retailers to check out? Thanks!...See MoreDo you save/toss old stationery?
Comments (12)Being a frugal person I like to recycle. I would use the paper cutter to cut the paper into 4ths. You can stick them in a decorative box by the phone etc. Also I have made "bound" note pads by putting a stack of the paper pieces between 2 rulers, then use rubber bands or clamps to hold them tight between the rulers. Take white glue and put a somewhat thick layer on the end of the papers to make a tablet out of them. Let the glue dry and put another layer or two on the ends again. It might take some time, but then you have a great notepad to use. I have even used these pads for gifts when I have had nice paper to use. If you do crafts, you might make paper beads out of them. Use them to dab brushes when you are painting etc. Ok... so I have too much time on my hands!...See Moresprtphntc7a
