my mantle and sideboard decor
Comments (14)Oh, I just love the antique sideboard vignette! The painting is wonderful & the hurricane trio looks like it came with the sideboard! The woman walking the dog is perfect, too! And those original rabbit wall sconces found a perfect home! Your beach themed decor looks so pretty with all your glassware...and I think those glass candles are perfect as they are! I like the idea of the ocean scene in one of your covered hurricane jar! Reminds me of the beautiful apothecary jars you decorated for other holidays. And I don't think your pics are too large, of course, I havent' been on d-up for yrs...but I would like to see your mantle even closer! You've got a great "collection" going here! TFS! Comments (3)There was also an apothocary jar--perhaps I should've picked that up instead. BTW, what does one use an apothcary jar for? Is it ever filled? Like with popourri? Perhaps I should just leave it blank until I can find a nice vintage piece--like a toureen to give some color. Any one have a quick and inexpensive temporary idea until I can find just the right thing? I did buy some gold ribbon with wire so that I could dress up some crystal pieces or just weave it around in an interesting pattern. Or use the pillar candles and them move them to my tub afterwards. Help! I just have to say a big thank you for all the advice these past few months. It is really helping to make my home come together since we remodeled it this past year. DH said to me last night, I thought you didn't want a mirror and I told him I saw so many becautiful examples of sideboard mirrors on the decorating forum, I changed my mind....See MoreHelp for decorating a hallway
Comments (12)Mirrors are great for expanding space. They also double what they reflect, so make sure the mirror will reflect something worth seeing twice. For example, if the wall opposite is blank, I'd say a mirror would be fine because you could hang a great piece of art on the blank wall. Definitely worth seeing twice! But if opposite is a corridor, bathroom door or some other mundane element, you probably don't want to duplicate it with a mirror. What is this hallway? Is it part of your entry or is it an internal corridor? More pictures from other perspectives would be helpful....See MoreSideboard decor
Comments (16)Pretty sure the "green thing" in the middle is just temporarily holding up the art. I'd think about adding a lamp, as everdebz suggests, to the art and vases arrangement which I think look great with the credenza. I'd play with the vases arrangement, then, and maybe also add a green plant in a modern planter....See MoreRelated Professionals
