Comments (5)My Samsung RFG238 counter-depth FD model is very quiet; a similar RFG237 model has a single (in-the-door) ice maker, not two. Comparable standard-depth models are also available (maybe #298 & #297; I forget). Standard depth models are invariably less than counter depth. Other Samsung FD models had poorly designed pantry door guides; search (below) for threads giving those model numbers, and photos. With Samsung, as with any brand, its smart to verify that authorized service is available in your local area before you buy....See MoreKitchen Aid vs GE Cafe fridge? Or other recommendations
Comments (8)I have that same refrigerator with Bosch for all other appliances. The handles do not match but that never bothered us. I got the standard depth Kitchenaid fridge as I wanted to have the maximum space in the fridge and we personally like the side-by-side configuration. Now, four years later, we have to replace the fridge as the insulation between the freezer and fresh food sections has broken down and there is a lot of condensation in the fresh food section. You can see a definate rectangular pattern of the condensation. It is caused the LED light on that side to short and now we have a light show inside. The cable of wires running below the freezer door to the control panel and ice maker are also slowly being severed because the door tends to flex enough to cut the plastic coating. Appliance repair point out the severeed wires and said that is common for this fridge (mine is an older version). My previous two Kitchenaid fridges were fine so don't know if this was a lemon or just the sign of the times with cheaply made appliances. Now we are looking for a replacement and the choices are slim so we may have to go back to a CD unit (easier for my wife to reach things in the back of the top shelf) and may even look at the french door since there seems to more options....See MoreIf i get a smart fridge, do I have to use WiFi or can I ignore that
Comments (29)" Why spend the money if you do not want the gadgets " Because often the appliance you want for all the other right reasons, also comes with WiFi attached. Agreed. I am so picky about the overall design of things. sometimes the only things that tick all the boxes also happen to be smart. I spend the money because I get all of the design and performance things I want, and I don't have to connect it to the internet if I don't want to. as for updates: usually those are in regards to security, but if you don't have it connected, then you don't need updates. re: TVs-- we chose not to connect ours to the internet because that brand (Samsung) had major security flaws at the time we bought it. but it's otherwise a really nice TV. like dadoes, we treat it like it's a giant monitor hooked up to our Fire TV. now that we no longer have cable, the fire TV remote controls everything. it's so slick....See More_sophiewheeler
