Painting after removing popcorn ceiling - draw attention to it or not?

Anyone have experience painting after removing a popcorn ceiling? How did it turn out?

I just scraped off the popcorn ceiling in our family room and am left with what appears to be a pretty smooth, flat surface. Just a few imperfections such as where the nails used in the drywall can be seen which will be mudded - and the whole thing sanded. Although it seems like it's in good condition to me, I'm wondering if I should paint it a shade of white to prevent drawing attention to any imperfections that may only be visible after painting, or if I dare continue my wall colour (pale green) up there. For context, this is a large room with lots of natural light that faces the garden.
