Comments (7)Buy solar panels built into that clear-roofed carport and conceal it down the driveway. Put shrubs at the corner of the house, and you won't even see the carport structure from the street; you'll just see the car. There are tax credits for solar panel installation and sometimes state incentives, and oil prices are going up up up..... IMO your roofline is SO pretty. Attaching a garage that looks like it belongs is going to mess it up. Don't. https://news.energysage.com/what-is-a-solar-panel-carport/...See MoreLiving room with fireplace - help with furniture placement

Comments (3)When we moved into our house 3 years ago, I made a scale drawing of each room, than made paper cutouts of all our furniture and rugs. I was able to play around with layouts on paper, so when the movers arrived, I could tell them exactly where everything would go. In your space, I think I would put a couch in front of the window, with the TV in the middle of the long wall. Chairs can flank the couch. The other option is to put the TV on the bedroom wall with a couch facing it, and a table in front of the window. The (adult) kids in our family play board games when they get together, so a big table is crucial. I also use the table for jigsaw puzzles....See MoreDesign Dilemma HELP!! and Furniture placement HELP before I go crazy!

I'd install a mudroom cubby thing with hooks to the right of the garage door. If your garage is a mess of car parts and lawnmowers, paint a square on the floor in front of your cubbies and tell your hubby he needs to keep his garage stuff out of it. Train your kids to take their backpacks to their rooms. Or empty them and clean up the stuff. Star charts for a carrot, the stick is a natural consequence, like not setting a place at the table for them if their junk is in the way. They have to clean it up and get their own dishes. When I used natural consequences for getting my kids to put their dishes in the DW, it worked like a charm....See MoreRelated Professionals
