Table for small, square dining room
Comments (1)I'd lean toward a small-ish round table (maybe one that stores leaves); these tables are usually pretty versatile and can be repurposed elsewhere in any future home easily. I'd worry about adding a hutch and other furniture as well as a table; it sounds like you're asking a lot of the space. You could also try looking at non-traditional "hutch" substitutes, like low bookcases, credenzas, dry bars, etc. We bought a dry bar long ago when we lived in a tiny house, it happened to fit well in a nook we had in our dining room, and we used it for china storage. We still have it today, in our much larger dining room. Now it's a bar, though. Pieces like this are more easily found in shallower widths and narrower sizes. You may not find a "matched" set, but if you're going for a more rustic/country look, this could be just the thing and look great in the space....See MoreWhat size dining room table should I get? 152" x 149" dining room
Comments (5)After calculating what was written above me, it looks like you can fit the same size table I have in my dining room, which is 42" wide by 78" long with the leaf in. We can fit up to 8 people at our table with the leaf in. I also love having a rectangle table! I have two openings in my dining room - one to the living room and the other to the kitchen. I have a door on the other wall and a window on the 4th. Just place your table in the middle of the room and it will work....See MoreSquare or round dining room table?
Comments (10)Your space can handle it! If you go for round I suggest a pedestal so no issue with legs. Large square tables are rare and I view them as a more modern or casual look. We have a round that is 54" that has casters for ease of moving / cleaning. 6 chairs around it at all times. 4 use it regularly (we have only ONE dining area in this house) and sit next to one another so it takes some getting used to - imagine talking to someone next to you at a wedding reception. We have a 22" lazy susan which makes it easier to pass a serving dish. If we bring out our folding chairs (those white ones in a banquet hall you can get covers for) we can do 8. We have a 8' round rug that I wish was a little bigger....See MoreSquare dining table for this space? Edited to add the picture.
Comments (4)A 60” round is a much nicer way to seat 8 and in a pinch you can have 10 and round is also nicer for playing games. A nice buffet along the stone wall with storage for games and maybe a bar hang a nice large piece of art on that wall ti soften it A light fixture hung at the proper height that actually lights up the table not the ceiling would also bo good for games....See MoreLarry David
