Master Bath remodel - need help with color!
Cabinets - Mid Continent Cabinetry
Thinking shaker style door, maple or Hickory with Fireside stain.
Countertops - Pental Quartz Paloma or Santenay Honed finish
Flooring - luxury vinyl tile (no idea what color would look good).
Paint - no idea?
Plenty of natural light.
French doors being replaced with slider. Window next to door will be removed. New drop in corner tub with wood skirt surround to match cabinets.

Comments (3)Oh dear, Kim. Just don't fall over in a dead faint when you get the demolition bill! That's a lot of tile. In a room that large, I would keep the tiled areas to only the wet areas. Comments (4)I think you're going to want to take your color cues from the finishes you choose for flooring, cabinets, etc., especially in the bathroom. Once you have those, start pulling paint swatches that coordinate and take you in the direction you want to go. I've seen some lovely and classic looking barn doors done, so I'm sure you can pull off the look. Comments (25)It's too bad white paint doesn't seem to work with your countertop, maybe try a few warm whites that can also work with your tiles. If not, a light grey such as Sea Salt might work but can't say without seeing the countertop in person. I don't know if it's because of how the picture was taken but the vanity wood seems very patchy. If it's not finished yet perhaps try to unify with a stain. I would opt for black pulls and go for the brass with the towel rods. Perhaps a MCM metal ornament or wood wall art could work above the bathtub and a roman shade on the window for a softer look (they have cordless ones). 5 years agoI have LVT in my guest bath and will be using the same tile in my master. I don't know what the big deal is. It's been great. It provides some traction, unlike porcelain tile, and it's grouted to look like porcelain. Because our floors originally had sheet vinyl, we would have had to use cement board to accommodate ceramic tile and I didn't want that speed bump going into the bathroom with bare feet.
I don't care for the busy patterns of LVT that try to mimic stone and wood. I used the quietest one, Armstrong Alterna in Multistone White. If your counter is quiet, use a busier floor. If your floor is quiet, use a busier counter.
We may use this granite remnant with the same floor.
It would be so much easier to help you if you'd post photos of your materials instead of expecting us to find them.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoThe vanity is cherry with a java stain by KraftMaid. For the master I'm doing alder with a lighter stain in Omega Dynasty. Alder and cherry both take stain well without becoming blotchy, like maple. I chose alder so there wouldn't be any red undertone in the cooler color palette.
This is the color I will be using in clear alder, not knotty.
This is the door style. I like to do something a little more interesting than Shaker for vanities.
So both your Pental choices are a solid gray. Then you want to use something like this Fireside stain on maple. I like the wood color but not with a solid gray counter. I'm also not a fan of using pebble tile anywhere except on the shower floor.

Oyster Polished Pental quartz, MidContinent Hickory cabinets with Umber stain, pebble tile shower floor and backsplash around sink and tub, travertine shower walls.

5 years agoI like the quartz with your theme. It's like a gravel version of the pebble tile. You get the gray without the heaviness of a solid gray quartz like in your first choices. But I sure wouldn't use that pebble tile as a vanity backsplash. There is enough going on with the heavy grain of hickory, the speckled quartz, the faucet, mirror and light. Adding pebbles everywhere becomes too thematic. Just use the quartz as a backsplash. Add interest with the mirror and light if you think it needs more around the vanity.
My cabinet maker has a display for dark stained hickory. They did slab for the shallow drawers to let the beautiful grain show. I recommend slab drawers for grained woods like cherry, hickory, and walnut. I like the dark stain because it eliminates some of the stripeyness of hickory that you can see in your sample, as do the slab drawers vs. a pieced drawer. These cabinets appeared a little darker in person so I think it's a darker stain than what you selected. The cabinets are inset. Aren't they beautiful?
