That baby blanket is very pretty. I would love to see that pattern! The leaf crafts are very clever. How do you do that?

katlan and Willa, it has taken me a lot of trial and error to get where I am now with the leaves and I am still learning.

Once the leaves have been gathered (I look for striking colors and patterns and leaves that are in good condition), they must be completely dry before the process can proceed. I press them in a book for 2 - 3 weeks. When they are dry, I apply several coats of jewelry grade resin until they have a thick coating on each side. I use ICE brand. Resin dries into a glass like clear plastic subtance which protects the leaves from fading and tearing or crumbling.

Resin is kind of tricky and messy, but it's fun to work with once one gets the hang of it. There is a lot of information on using resin on the internet. One site I like is Resin Obsession. They have lots of project ideas/tutorials and a forum where people can ask questions and give each other advice.

Bossy, it’s about 36 inches square, give or take. Each square is 10 stitches. Using Hobby Lobby’s I Love Yarn, it took 1.5 skeins of the lighter green and about 3/4 of a skein of the dark green and the white. The pattern is amazingly easy, it’s pulling the threads along in the stitches that was a little challenging. I was surprised at how easy it is once you get your rhythm.

Dawn Dawn Dawn!!! Those are gorgeous! I love them. We have a pretty large yard and get about 3 feet of colored leaves every year....I sure wish I could hand some over to you!!!

Every year I decorate my office building for halloween and Christmas. These are some bottles I doctored up for halloween. I have over 100 jars and bottles. People bring me their empty glass bottles and jars. I dye them (When necessary, these were already colored) label them,and sometimes add spiders or spider webs. Or ill take colored hot glue and have it spilling from the top. Every year I make more, since when I put them up,inevitably some get broken,some stolen,and some fade. These are the first 3 i made this year,and I have a pickle jar and olive jar soaking now so that I can easily remove the label before I dye them. Such fun. I line all the windowsills and a high shelf that goes across the whole length of the building with them.

Dawn your resin coated leaves are so pretty.

I love the baby blanket, it's beautiful! I've recently started crocheting and knitting afghans again (to clear out the old yarn stash, but also for something creative to do), but don't have any pictures to share offhand. My latest is only about a foot along, green, and has big chunky cables across it. Not ornate, just fun.

The jewelry is beautiful too. I couldn't believe those were real leaves at first!

Amylou, I also want to know how you dye glass.

I take mod podge,mix it with food coloring and pour it in the bottle or jar. Then I coat the inside and turn it upside down for a while for the excess to drip out,then put it on a low oven (180 to 200 degrees) until the glue dries. It really doesn't take very long. The glue gets clear when it dries so all that's left is the color you mixed into it.

I didn't realize until last year that the color tends to fade after awhile,but that takes several years,and it's only halloween decorations....

I used to have a beautiful aspen leaf necklace and earrings like that. I loved them, hate they are gone. I have never tried doing resin. I used to make a lot of jewelry. I bought a few tools recently. I miss doing that work

This time of year I start working with wool. I love to recycle old wool sweaters into something new. My first project for the season was a blanket for my 1 year old grand niece. My sewing machine decided to take a break on me so I actually ended up sewing about 80% by hand.

two25acres, what a great way to recycle wool sweaters. Your blanket looks very soft and snuggly. I've also heard of people unraveling old sweaters to reclaim the wool/yarn.

I love all the art everyone has created!! Such wonderful ideas and work. I am working on two throw-sized quilts. All that’s left is the binding....if only I could find the fabric I set aside for that purpose. (You know, so it wouldn’t get lost in my fabric stash.) The first one is made from Liberty of London fabric, and the second one is patriotic-themed.

Love all your projects. This time of year I usually get out the yarn and crochet a blanket or do some cross stitching. I would love to learn how to quilt. I am good at hand stitching but can't seem to do anything with a sewing machine. I decided not to do any crafts until the work on my house is finished which should be in December sometime. I might have time to make up some sequined tree decorations to send off to my cousin in Toronto.
