Half Bath..design direction needed
Comments (37)I think the vanity is fine. It's non-descript so if you want to do a fairly easy/lo cost upgrade, I'd look for a fabulous wall-paper, ideally on sale some where and do the whole room. (Wallpaper similar to either of your patterned fabrics would be great). You could then replace the faucet and knobs, and perhaps even leave the white (depending on wall-paper), or paint (perhaps light grey?) or gel stain (I think there are some now that can cover paint?). I'd leave the tiles. You have little ones, leave replacing the floor for after they've broken/chipped a few tiles down the road...and in ten/fifteen years you'll be ready for another update! LOL I found antique bevelled oval mirrors for 2 bathrooms at auctions. I think a gorgeous over the top mirror combined with wallpaper would make a huge difference, but of course that's my taste... but seeing as I love your fabric choices...am assuming we may have similar likes and dislikes....See MoreHelp Bring My Half Bath into the 21st Century!
Comments (18)Replace the flooring if needed. Remove dated wallpaper, paint or re-wallpaper (love the 2nd bath inspiration pic). Refinish or paint cabinet. Replace counter top, sink, lighting and hard wear. Replace the toilet to a more updated one. Keep walls clear other than mirror and art. I think this is one of the easiest and best updates you can do to your home! Good luck!...See MorePlease help me choose a bathroom floor tile: marble? mosaic? (pics)
Comments (53)Dottie - I could not have done this without an educated designer - it's not just about the design choices although I would never have come up with design choices as my brain isn't hardwired in those kinds of visually imaginative ways. I can appreciate things but I don't know how to pull them together and I wouldn't have the ability to figure out where to even start in terms of the sea of vendors. I am good about researching appliances and functions but get lost in the sea of visual possibilities :-) And I can't even imagine dealing with codes and such since Los Angeles is code crazy - I wanted to move some floor electrical outlets up a bit from the floor as I found it difficult to reach them when I had some hip issues so I was thinking about for the future - I was told that if I move a plug, the whole thing has to be rewired back to the panel box. And the darn kitchen sink has to be approved by the UL LOL - who would think a kitchen sink could be dangerous....See MoreWeird Half Bath with Half-a-Ceiling!! HELP!
Comments (13)Yes, toilet and sink can remain where they are. I would have one hanging hand towel space near the sink - disposable towels are great if you have a large number of people over at once, but for one or two at a time, it's not so luxurious, and rather wasteful if you are dashing in there yourself when home alone. Under the overhang... a cabinet to store supplies, including extra TP. Find an attractive knick knack for atop. Either art or wallpaper on the wall behind the toilet- or perhaps through the entire room (edit, wallpaper that is...) Paint or paper the slope the same as the wall it is on. If you are apt to have guests who are older, or may have physical limitations, consider a comfort height toilet. It would probably be worth changing out the tile, but you can always use the right rug for now....See Moreblondelle
