Bathrooms Design Dilemma Remodeling

I need remodel inspiration/tile colors for bathroom

We are getting our bathroom completely remodeled (my husband is permanently disabled so we are having this turned into a walk in shower for his safety) so we figured for resale we might as well do a complete renovation, pick out nice tile etc. make it look nice!

This bathroom is connected to our master bedroom. It is a small bathroom and there are no windows, so no sunlight coming in.

I want it to look nice, obviously remodeled! I want it to look the best of its potential!

but know nothing about bathrooms haha!
We are going to go to floor and decor and attempt to pick out tyle/match it all up. Any advice??

You need a plan! In this case I would recommend a designer to help sketch out a real plan...especially if you want to be ADA compliant and so your husband has a safe place to shower. Who is doing the work? Some contractors have experience in this. Also in regards to Floor & Decor be careful there. Some stuff is ok and some is literal garbage. My contractor told me not to pick any tiles with a PEI rating of 3 or under for flooring or shower tile! It’s not good quality!

Don’t do seconds cheap chinese marble. You have a high risk of it rusting. In addition to the spacing and thickness issues that it will have. And all of the other issues that marble has with staining, etching, and chipping.

Your design is similar to mine. Tile to the ceiling, it's just easier. Make sure you decide on a good tile backer board/waterproofing system and how you are going to deal with the backer board to tub flange joint. On my project I went with Durock and Hydroban with a cast iron tub and white subway time to the ceiling and a simple fabric shower curtain, but there are more convenient waterproofing systems now. Here are some photos of my project for reference . Also think about a 33% tile offset rather than 50% as I did and is shown in your example picture, it helps to lessen the appearance of lippage and makes for a better looking end product IMO. In my finished bathroom you can see that the grazing incidence of the light on the wall really emphasizes the slight bow in the center of the tiles as it casts a shadow on the tile below. The tile setter did a good job, but 33% offset would have looked a bit better.

consider doing a curbless shower. Maybe even a wall-mount toilet. (don't know what the budget is, but both of these will cost more). check w/the city or state and see if they have an allowance to give you to turn your bath into ADA for your husband. In some situations they will pay for a portion to convert.

I would lose that tower and do a larger vanity w/more storage.

I'd also do a wall mount faucet which will make cleaning easier for you! It's not that difficult for the plumber to put the lines in the wall. he will have to come out to redo the shower anyway.

another option is a floating vanity. you could put baskets underneath for extra storage if you need it.

as for the shower, think of doing a little pony wall, like in the pic, with a glass panel atop, and leaving the entire doorway open. that way he can roll right in. (you can have a built in bench in the shower or one that pulls down. grab bars can also be installed

curdles, linear drain at the entrance, single panel glass, and teak bench.

or you may choose to do no pony wall and just have a door that swings open.

These have to be done by someone qualified to understand floor slope! so make sure you choose a pro.

I just redid a shower for my neighbors. they took out their tub and did this

no door, just a single 36" glass panel. (not shown here)

I also gave them wall mount faucet. quartz countertop and this is a 36" vanity.

extra storage in the niche (shelving not done yet) and over the toilet.

We agree with Beth on losing the tower and checking with the city to see if they will cover a portion of the costs. It might be nice to get a bigger vanity and go for a a walk in shower.
