tRump must be thrilled about hurricane Florence.....

Eliana

Woodward's book became available today and for once he doesn't have to create a distraction to take attention away from himself and the truth of that story. No worries though, his dog and pony show will be back shortly. He is already preparing for Florence by talking about his "incredible unsung success" with PR's Maria. Hah!

This week, as Florence barreled toward the Carolinas, Trump shared an image of the churning eye of the storm as if he were a Weather Channel aficionado. “The storm looks very bad!” he tweeted.

The theme has been consistent throughout his time in office. During a private meeting at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in June, the president spoke of the upcoming hurricane season the way he might have described the latest episode of his former NBC reality show, “The Apprentice,” according to audio obtained by The Washington Post.

“There has never been a season like the last 12 or 13 months,” Trump said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

In public remarks at FEMA the same day, the president marveled at the “record water drop” and how “the storms were really historic in their severity,” before urging federal officials to rise to the challenge, sounding a bit like a high school football coach encouraging his team before the big game. “As we enter hurricane season again — here we go. Right? You’re ready?” he said.

“In times of trial and disaster, people really look to the president to express the collective concern of the country for the victims,” said David Axelrod, a senior adviser to former president Barack Obama. “That empathy is an essential part of the job

Well those internment camps can now be used for the people that they were probably originally intended. Once in then the question will be can you leave.

He'll show up somewhere next week to throw a few rolls of paper towels to a crowd. That'll fix things. No need to spend further funds for disaster relief, unless it's for one of his golf courses. Bet he'd be first in line to get federal funds.

As usual, the left is looking for anything to discredit the President. Its not Trump, its the Republicans, even though the left tries to make it all about Trump, if it was another conservative - and heaven help him if he's a Christian, the attacks would be just the same. It gets old, I wonder that the game just doesn't get boring every day looking for things to set off the RDS (Republican Derangement Syndrome).

Look for something? All you have to do is look in the newspaper under your nose. 3,000 dead Americans. That okay with you? If so, please illuminate...what exactly did trump do in this national disaster? What was the extent of the disaster plan he implemented? Or, did he stay by and do nothing because, let's face it, those aren't his constituents.

Guess Trump supporters, like Trump, didn't read the Accountabilty Office report about FEMA's response to Maria. While there were reasons, some valid, some not the report on the FEMA response was less than stellar........certainly not the success Trump claims.

A snippet........

" A federal report published Tuesday found that staff shortages and a lack of trained personnel slowed the U.S. government response to Hurricane Maria, a storm estimated to have killed nearly 3,000 people in Puerto Rico.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office said 54 per cent of federal emergency personnel were not qualified to do the rescue work in October 2017, a month after the Category 4 hurricane hit the U.S. territory."

We know FEMA delivered bottled water to Puerto Rico, but the people never got it. Somebody refused to turn it over to them. Could be some folks in Puerto Rico with some explaining to do.

And of course having all that water properly distributed would have allowed more folks to get their needed dialysis or chemo, right?

Too bad that the US doesn't have teams of well trained experts on disaster logistics. Sarcasm.

More is coming out about the water ... that it smelled and tasted bad, was possibly already contaminated (or quickly got that way from being out in the hot sun even after one day).

The US isn't Puerto Rico's Nanny. Something went wrong, and those responsible need to explain why that water wasn't distributed. I'm going to wait for the facts to come out, but you go right ahead and blame America before you know who dropped the ball.

Nik, the facts have come out . The Accountability Office has issued their report. Lots of blame to go around including very damming comments on FEMA. Have you read the newly released report ?

Mind you I know that the choice for some will to be to ignore the significant criticism of FEMA and only focus on the shortcomings of the local officials.

So sad that Americans can't come together on learnings that are important....but rather point fingers and place blame

Trump is the most incompetent, weak, amoral leader this country has EVER had. If he is so competent, why is the country in such chaos after 1 year, 9 months under his leadership? The only thing he has been competent in is, dividing the country.

The country is NOT in chaos. The country is doing just great.

It seems the people that think the country is in chaos are the people that want it to be in chaos so they can blame it on President Trump, and contribute to discord, hate, negativity and violence that is being exhibited towards President Trump and supporters of his policies and of him.

Trump has not divided the country.

The response of people who aren't emotionally mature enough to handle not getting their way has divided the country. They are finishing the job that their idol Barack Obama started.

Trump is a master at dividing Americans. It started during the election and has continued through his Presidency. He deliberately chooses issues, especially cultural issues, and presents then in a way he knows will pump his base while alienating large segments of American people. That is NOT what good leaders do

He is a disgrace as a leader both domestically and internationally

I wonder if tRump will choose to diminish this Cat 1 hurricane by comparing preliminary death toll numbers to Katrina.

Nah. he will suggest that Florence was a major hurricane, the likes of which we have never seen before. and that the preparation and response to it were the best this country has ever known.

Deflection Don will spin faster than the 'cane, but the Manafort plea could be the decisive blow.

Cooperation with Mueller = HUGE.

Manafort probably made a proffer that included information about how and why he was selected to be Mr. T's campaign manager. the T Tower meeting with DJ Jr. and Russians, the circumstances and possible quid pro quo for the GOP platform change, et. al. This could be the ballgame for Don (the Con) Trump !

Now I am I'm not saying it is, but I'm starting to warm up for that day. All together now with the late great Dandy Don:
