The one with the flowers is pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) and the tall slender one is dogfennel (Eupatorium capillifolium). Both are native perennials. And both are regarded by most people as weeds but they do have benefits to birds in several ways.

It's not the site turning the photos, it's the direction the photographers were holding their phones or iPads when they took the photo. Their devices can identify the correct orientation for the photo, but this site will orient them in the direction the photo "should" have faced if the device were held in the correct direction when the photo was taken. Similar devices can orient the photos correctly. They all look fine on my iPad. But PCs can't adjust, since they only see the world from one orientation. Martha

You don't need an app - I have never found one that was more than just slightly accurate. Post here on the GardenWeb plant ID forum - Name That Plant. There are some incredibly talented folks that can ID just about anything growing anywhere!!

I agree they look like pepper plants or four-o-clocks. I can't think of any fruit that grows on a plant like that, but I don't know them all. What fruit were you thinking it might be ?
