which color granite looks good with two tone cabinets?
Comments (3)We did two different cabinets and two different counters. For me the key was that (1) my island and some of my cabinets are white which is not too busy (you have black, the same thing) (2) I used only one counter material that was dramatic & the second was more even in tone/less coloration and (3) our two counter colors were in the same color family - both were basically medium gray - one all and the other gray with white. Pietra del Cardosa perimeter counters & super white quartzite island I was very nervous about this decision. Many people said 2 cabinet one counter or two counters one cabinet. But I am excited about our final decision to do both. I like a less uniform look. I worried that what I picked up looked to matchy but it doesn't in person. If you did a darker, more even tone stone like a black on the perimeter and something on the island that had more movement and just pay attention to how the counters work together you should be fine. As I keep having to remind myself, look at your inspiration photos or the FKB again to see what inspires you. I would also keep an open mind on lighter granites. Bring a your cabinet door, or other finish sample to see how they look with the slabs counters. You may be surprised and find something that works with both. But you don't have to be afraid to do two different counters if it the option you love. Regarding specific granites, I didn't find many grays. I loved pietra but it is not as durable as other granites and I love soapstone but is even less durable - both can be gray, the first lighter the second more likely black when "oiled" or very dark green, but gray if unoiled, but I don't know if people use them that way. The one mentioned in the previous post seems gray in photos but I have not seen it in person....See MoreWhich direction does this chaise look good?
Comments (32)Thanks everyone for the comments!! Lots of ideas. The bookshelves I would like to keep there. I was planning on painting them later on maybe, once I get the accent colors in the room decided. Also will be replacing the blue runner with another color runner or nothing on the top or two lamps on the top (maybe the Pierone exhibit teal lamp). Yes, we will need seating, we will be hosting dinners (usually with kids) and also have friends/family visiting often. The orange sofa would have to stay facing the TV, since my husband loves to sit there. The white chaise I liked a lot. Have rearranged the furniture again and attached a few pics. These are with the chaise on the opp side near the window, but this look made it look like an office reception area: I then changed the chairs at an angle, made it look a little different: I then moved both chairs to the smaller area and yes this will function as a small play area and a place to read books. I liked this look a lot. My toddler loves these chairs, she can easily climb on them and we can both fit on one chair and read a book. For the main seating I moved the sofas back away from the wall and in the center a little. My husband likes to rest his feet, so if I buy an ottoman or two, it would stay in that empty space. I think the addition of a rug and two small side tables will bring it together. Yes, the sofas are new and still deciding which look to keep. We may return a few pieces if we dont like the look in a week or so. thanks, Cooks....See Morelooking for a floor that will g9 good with these cabinets. Any ideas
Comments (3)It looks like your cabinets have a slight orangey color to them. So you probably can’t go with a cooler color gray but maybe you can try a chestnut gray since it is warmer looking. So here is a photo for your consideration. I have a mixed stain (1/4 classic gray and 3/4 chestnut) on my red oak floors....See Moreneed color help- will this quartzite look good with white cabinets?
Comments (13)And if you haven't seen it, my kitchen is green and white. I have a very busy quartzite. As a full slab it looks almost overwhelming but once on a horizontal surface, it calms down quite a bit without overwhelming the rest of the kitchen. My slab:In my kitchen:Along the perimeter before my stained glass window went in:On the countertop: Notice how it's not so overwhelming on the counters? Also I have lots of reds, oranges, peaches and purples in mine too but once it's all down, it doesn't override the greens. If I hadn't seen my slabs, I probably would have picked something like that last slab you showed. It's stunning....See MoreUser
