Painted kitchen and family room gray, need help with cabinets!
Comments (14)Thank you guys so much for the feedback. We're totally leaning towards repainting with a warmer gray or beige. Camouflage might be nice, any other recommendations for something that's classic and also can work with the slightly yellow cabinets and backsplash? Comments (13)I don't think you are making a mistake. I do think you might want to research some favorites to look to see how they work together. What kind of lighting do they have? How much natural light and how open is the space? If you love White why don't you get that. I always find that when I love something (Dark floors, Marble, White walls cabinets) I don't mind cleaning and caring for them. Wood does warp, change and move. This could definitely happen more in humid climates. Wood also has some beautiful character and movement that is like a piece of art. NOtice this kitchen below has rather high ceilings. Buckets of light are filtered into the space. And the gray makes the photo look black and white. https://www.decoist.com/2014-02-06/kitchen-cabinets-choose-color/ This one below has really high ceilings and light too. This one is pretty too... WIth just the island stained. Love it. It is not gray but it does give some movement....See MoreHelp, need kitchen paint color! New gray quartz and cherry cabinets
Comments (4)I agree that the wall color is off and would go for something that is more of a soft white with less pink in it. I know there is a pinky beige in your counter but you don't have to bring out all of the countertop tones and I think anything beige is going to clash with the cherry. Our old kitchen had cherry cabinets and Ben Moore maritime white walls. I loved the walls so much, when we got our new kitchen, we had cabinets made in that color....See MorePaint colour help! Comments (9)So your close up has helped. I think you were on the right track with SW Agreeable Gray because I think that even though your stone has yellows and oranges, I think the grey stone actually shows a little violet. I think you are risking getting this wrong if you rush yourself too much, as seeing the new color, and even the current finishes will be hard with all those bright colors around. Before you go into the house, paint several extra large poster boards with some of your contenders so they are ready to go for you as soon as you are on sight. Look at: SW Agreeable Gray (lighter than the next 3) BM Fossil BM Balboa Mist BM Collingwood BM Wind's Breath (Lighter than the others) BM CSP-95 Sea Salt (Full Spectrum color that will behave different from the rest) I know you want to get rid of those obnoxious colors, but I think it is fair to ask your painter to prime the front entry, and give you a few days to decide the new color. Maybe even after he primes, you ask him to delay your job a bit, so you can really see the colors as the light shifts and moves. The big risk with low chroma colors in this area of the color wheel is that they shift, and you might not like what you see. It would be a costly mistake to rush. Take a look at the new list and let me know if there is an alternate route you would like to look at. Please slow down this decision. I hope you land on the correct color easily when you are in the house. I would paint a few from the list that you think might work because you will know instantly when the board is next to the stone and stairs, which direction you need to go. I would love to see the house when it is freshly painted. It will be magnificent!...See MoreRelated Professionals
