Kitchen backsplash...I am at a loss with color to go with granite
Comments (37)The tiles are a creamy color. It is called Light by Pietra...Florida tiles. I guess that some pieces might have a very slight peach undertone, but more ivory overall. I tried a few other creams and in my kitchen they cast a greyish hue, which did not look good at all. They are tumbled stone, and so far the displays and samples that I have gotten are not too "holey" I don't like that. A little bit is ok, but I have seen some that are very holey. The 4 tiles in the middle are actually just a part of the set of 8 to the right. They go from those nice warm colors, to very white, like the 3rd one in on the top row. That is what I wasn't crazy about...too much variation! I have not ordered any tiles yet, but the ones on the other post are what I was thinking....See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreHelp! Where did the tile backsplash go so wrong?
Comments (47)I am glad to see you back Frieda. Don"t even worry about deleting the posts or explaining everything again. But I did want to mention something I forgot to say earlier. You may have already addressed it. But, I noticed when you had the other photos posted, there were two very dark brownish black hexagons right next to each other. While he is at fixing all the other crooked tiles, please consider having him replace those 2 tiles. You can get two tiles that are more the grey color to blend with rest from an extra sheet. Those 2 black ones really stood out because the rest were the greyish tones on that whole run. All I kept thinking was that it looked like a big blob of black "mud" (or something else that I would not want in my kitchen) was flung onto the back splash. Maybe put something in front of it? Sorry, if it does not bother you, just ignore me. ;-) Best wishes sent your way and please do a reveal when everything is fixed. It really is a gorgeous tile with your countertop!!! I am dying to see the whole kitchen with all the other finishes you chose with it....See MoreWhite/off-white kitchen backsplash help
Comments (6)Thanks mdl. I will toy around with this idea. I like light and bright, but we do have plenty of that in this kitchen already, plus a huge wall of windows. Our whole house is warm neutrals, and that is what is challenging me here. I agree that the white and the blue both look too cool. And thanks designsavy. I was on a mission to get it all done ASAP as we are using a contractor and are doing many rooms in a remodel, and the dust is getting to me, but we have just rearranged the sequence of things, and will now be doing kitchen, laundry, then master bath, so there should be time once the cabs and countertop are installed. I'd rather make it right and slow down if necessary....See Moreloobab
