I don’t quite know why Houzz sent me a link to this older thread but my update is this: Joan from For The Love of a House Blog knows what she’s doing. Her Ashwood was lovely in my master bedroom. Then, when we bought a new build house in 2013 I decided to try Titanium, also Ben Moore, also from her house. It read soft but tiny hint of green in my well-lit western exposure master bedroom. We paid an up charge to the builder to have a nice light taupe painted throughout the new house so my husband thought I was certifiable to be on a ladder repainting the Titanium over the new walls on the first day we had keys. Of course he was busy taking up all the carpet so he could lay wood floor the same day. The Titanium was wonderful. This past year we moved to the Deep South and I used her Gray Owl throughput the entire house we are in now. It’s my favorite and does read just a bit blue in some lights. (There May Be BM Stonington Gray in the kitchen and both baths. Just sayin’) And totally agree with 6009kitty on sample pots. Never paint without a sample on your wall. And I don’t mean a 12” square either. Light makes a lot of difference. Greenery out the window can change things too. Test it. Red

Here's an interesting factoid. I had SW tell me what color is most like the color that's been on this house since I owned it (3 yrs now). I had an actual paint sample, right out of the can, albeit dried into the shape of the bottom of the can (heh). The existing color is/was very close to SW "Crushed Ice." And I'm tempted to use it again since it's slightly grayish but still very neutral. The SW rep suggested "Super White" for the trim as he said that's perfect for exterior use and has really good coverage. White is the hardest color unless you go for mixing white or Super White. When I was choosing interior trim white for my house I went through more samples than I can count and finally created my own (and was lucky enough to find a young man who could match it to mend what the kitchen has affected in other rooms--BTW, the named color for repainting one small wall in a very large room was better than color matched to the current paint color. I do limit the direct light in there, but BM also seems not to fade like other paints I've experienced). And knowing exactly the tint I wanted for my kitchen ceiling didn't stop me from making more than a dozen mixes until we got just the right white. Keep at it!! You'll know it when you have it. Maybe it's Cloud and you just need to make sure. Maybe it's Lily Sprite (that's made up--don't go looking for it). Samples and more samples, that's the key. And look at them under different lights. That is, sunshiny, overcast, twilight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc. White reflects the most light so the color of the light makes a really big difference.

We were stuck on colors too, and trying to pick colors in my ocean/Florida home to go in my mountain/Colorado home was impossible. Test the colors in the room, with the light you'll use. I had an opposite situation -- I was afraid the 3000K LED lights would be too cold and stark with the gray I chose, so struggled to find a true gray that didn't turn beige. All this to say, look at it in place, with the temperature lights you'll be using. Your yellow tones might be pleasant with 3500K lighting.
