What’s blooming this fall
Comments (5)Thank you Jane! That means a lot coming from an experienced grower such as yourself. The only bloom here I am not responsible for is the paph, but the rest I can take credit for :) I think the cacti taught me well when it comes to watering...I’m more scared of rot than anything. I just added Maxillaria tenufolia and Masdevallia Dean Haas to my collection, and I’m really hoping I can manage the Masdevallia...See MoreWhat’s up with my schlumbergera?
Comments (10)You can try something with less nitrogen. I use an African violet fertilizer (with micronutrients) for my blooming plants. These prefer more moist conditions than typical succulents. When the medium (bark) dried, you can soak it for 5-10 minutes so the bark can absorb the moisture otherwise just the surface gets wet and it dries very quickly. I have this problem (drying too quickly) with my orchids in bark if I don't let the bark soak after it's dried out....See MoreWhat’s this white flowered shrub?

Comments (9)Sorry, but the two issues are not at all the same!! Rick, your apple blossoms are just showing some weather damage......nothing to worry about and nothing to treat. Fwiw, a great many early blooming trees and shrubs will produce flowers that show this sort of damage....typically just the result of a heavy rainfall. We see this all the time in our wet PNW springs......and we grow a heck of a lot of apples here in WA state!!...See MoreFaith
