Front Porch ideas
Comments (24)What a pretty home and I love Charleston! (Was just there last weekend, at the Ansonborough Inn - great place.) What would you think about turning the swing into a bench (add some legs)? Whenever I see a swing that can't actually swing because it would crash into a wall, I think a bench would make more sense. Then I would either fill the urns, or find some big rectangular planters to put along the concrete ledges. Fill them with lots of color and texture, including something drapey / viney that would spill down the front. (Like sweet potato vines.) It's a lovely home - enjoy!...See MoreCurb Appeal Question - Awning/Front Porch/Portico ideas needed
Comments (5)Thanks so much, this is hugely helpful. That glass awning shared is amazing. I will see about talking to a local awning company about it to start. The current awning is actually burgundy, not that it makes it much better :). Definitely agree on the landscaping too and have considered starting with yanking that bush out the blocks the front door, even if we wait on the rest until spring. I never thought about the downspout color being different, and now it stands out like crazy. We’ll definitely have that painted to match the brick. Would you leave the other paint as is? On the door, I also like the idea of having the sides be the same color. What color would you paint it? I wouldn’t mind replacing the door but the side lights are matching to the glass - does that matter? There is also a storm door if that makes a difference. The windows are definitely dated but haven’t been the highest on my priority list to change out - as you can imagine, several things inside look like 1995 too. Thanks so much!...See MoreHelp with front porch/deck ideas

Comments (4)decorate with art or wall hangings that can handle the outdoors. turn it into a cozy outdoor living room with some comfortable chairs, outdoor rug, and small gas firepit. consider building or adding a privacy screen to block the view of the garage. hang string lights. visit a local nursery and ask if there are any low light outdoor plants that might work in your space. put them in wall mounted planters on the privacy screen, or in planters. get a small gas firepit that you can store the tank inside. or if that's too big, look up "fire column", they're really slim: if the light is simply too dim for potted plants, I've seen really cool grow lights (google "decorative grow lights" for inspiratoin): like, imagine if this was wall mounted:...See Moredamiso23
