rubbing alcohol............found out through DH's nurse when he got blood from foot surgery all over my rug the rubbing alcohol would get it out and it did.

whoops...........I was confusing hydrogen peroxide with rubbing alcohol. It was H.P. that removed the blood stains and it's H.P. I meant in my answer. As soon as Leona said it I realized my mistake. So right or wrong, I'm going with hydrogen peroxide.

Georgysmom, I read online of a cleaning solution using hydrogen peroxide and I think dishwashing detergent. I tried a spot and it bleached it. Didn't it bleach your carpet at all?

It didn't, but it did warn to test first..........they are wool orientals. And I used it on white pants to get out a cherry stain. On second thought, it might have lightened the carpet a teeny bit, not that noticeable. The bloodstains were far more noticeable.:-)))

DMSO....always, isn’t that commonly known as horse liniment? If I remember, people started using it for various other ailments on themselves back in the 60’s or 70’s too. Maybe it was used for dandruff, I don’t know. But ingesting it?

Rusty, I may be totally wrong. But the name sounded vaguely familiar. Glad it was at least good for a laugh. Honestly, I should have looked it up. But when it was connected with ‘medicine’ I think of something oral, not rubbed in. And ‘dimethyl’ sounds like a solvent of some sort, so yeah it could be a cleaner.

I know you meant "liniment", and auto-correct thought it was smarter than you, that's why I found it so funny. Some of the things auto-correct and sometimes spell check, too, can come up with are hilarious!

OMG!! I just realized the dang word was wrong!! Rusty I am so sorry I didn’t catch the mistake. I never proof read half my stuff and I did mean liniment, not ligament. But of course the computer is smarter than me so auto-correct helps me out all the time! But the liniment is used for ligaments I guess so there you go!

I remember coming into the horse barn after DMSO was used. It was put down their throat and the smell lingered for at least a day.
