Painting advice for great room with vaulted ceiling
Comments (1)I'm more concerned that anything that isn't matte will show the unevenness in the wall that you talk about and make it stand out. I've had this argument with DH and the architect over the years and I've folded and gone with matte for the very reasons they state....no lap marks, reduces the impact of imperfections in the walls.... The only way I know to avoid lap marks is to paint it once and paint it well...it's when you go back over stuff to catch those areas where it's thin or didn't cover completely that you really see the sheen build up and it shows. I don't see a pic of the room....See MoreLighting in Vaulted Ceiling Dilemma
Comments (12)Pot lights in a vaulted ceiling are useless I tell my clients with vaulted ceilings to check out Tech kabel lighting it allows the lighting to be where you need it the heads are moveable so if you change furniture the lighting still works you can add heads if you need them and they are installed at human height. This system is best thought about at the stage of building you are at to make sure all the electrical is in place and if course now do LEDs These pics are just a couple of ideas , visit a really good lighting store where there are knowledgable people you know about this system. I love Ikea for many things but lighting IMO is where you want to buy the best you can for overall lighting then add lamps that are easy to replace....See MoreVaulted Ceiling Colors Dilemma
Comments (6)I personally generally dislike plain white ceilings with colored walls, especially "ceiling white", but a white that has subtle color often looks terrific. You can certainly go with painting walls and ceiling the same (and paint the fireplace pillar the same as the bookcases and trim) or even the ceiling same as the trim if there is a connection between them. Take calidesign's advice and carefully test out your gray in the house. Paint colors have a way of changing once they are on the wall. You don't necessarily need to get a lighter shade for the ceiling because it will look different anyway. Ask the paint store to recommend a ceiling color if you decide to try a different shade. Also search "color on ceiling". I have often mentioned that in my kitchen, the walls are a pale aqua, but the ceiling is painted in Valspar "Transparent" which looks a blue in the can but on the ceiling is a warm neutral - after 6 years I am still so pleased with it....See Morepaint color dilemma - open floor plan with vaulted ceilings
Comments (14)Picture of the kitchen too - visible from the dining room and living room... I don’t really like any any of the colors in the kitchen right now. Definitely not my “style”. Im hoping to tackling painting the cabinets and changing out the countertops to white, maybe making the island a different color like navy or blueish grey, but trying to take baby steps and pick out new floors and wall colors first. Huge props to professional designers and their talents, because just picking out a paint color has me paralyzed ... I can’t even imagine how I’m going to pick out flooring or colors for the kitchen next Very overwhelming 🥺😩...See Moremariabala
