Meyer Lemon Tree Help Needed!

Back in January, I bought a Meyer Lemon Tree at Home Depot. Overall it's been pretty health, with some occasional leaf drop, but within the last 3 days it's dropped upwards of 12 leaves, with others yellowing. In early July it flowered, and I pollinated them so it seems to have some proto-lemons, but I have no clue what's causing it to deteriorate in the way it is. Please, if anyone can help at all, it would be greatly appreciated. They seem to be yellowing from he base and drooping quite a bit. It also hasn't had any new leaf growth since I bought it. I fertilized it 2 weeks ago, water it once every 8 days, and re-potted it back in May. It's the one with the yellow tag on it. What kind of soil and what's the fertilizing regime you are using? Do you put it outside for real sunlight?

Is that tree allowed to grow outside at all? Is it inside> Under lights? How do you know when to water? What kind of mix are you using?

As Steve has mentioned your fertilizer is not ideal. It also appears as though your soil is retaining water, which is killer for Myers (which in my experience can be quite finicky in a pot). I would search the forum for 5:1:1 soil mixtures and repot the plant into this type of soil (which drains much better). Mixing sand into a potting soil mixture often complicates the drainage, and it is for these very reasons why so many folks on the forum are such supporters of 5:1:1 soil mixtures. As for your fertilizer, look up foilage pro and osmocote plus on the forum as well. Good luck! Zach

Chop them off. You in see how there are three lobes to the leaves? That's how you know it's not Meyer lemon. If the one behind in the picture doesn't have 3 lobe leaves then you can leave that one. But the front two for sure need to be removed.

I have a question. I brought my Meyer Lemon tree and Lemonade Blue Berry Bush in for the winter. They are in a south facing window. When the sun is out they receive a lot of sun light. But with winter time in Central Ohio, that isn't to many days. I want to supplement the light with some CFL bulbs. I have a lamp with both a 6400K 100 watt (23 watts) bulb and a 2700K 100 watt (23 watt) bulb. My question is do I really need the 2700K bulb? The plant isn't blooming / flowering but I do still have lemons on it. On cloudy days I use the bulbs anywhere from 7 to 10 hours a night in addition to being in front of the window. Also, I have some small Lemon and Lime trees that I started from seeds. Should I just use the 6400K bulb for them too? They sit in the windows also. They are about 4 to 5 inches tall. This is my 1st season trying this. I saw on youtube that both the 6400K and 2700K bulbs together are more representative to natural light. But I don't want to waste eelectricity if using both bulbs together really don't help.

It's been inside since I bought it, set between a south and east facing window. It's in "Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm, and Citrus Soil". I water it based on a time schedule as for the first couple months I had it, every 8 days is when the soil was dry 2 inches down. It used to be in a miniature pot, the one it's in looks small for it, but I don't see any roots growing out the bottom. I fertilize it every 2.5 months. I have a small lamp in the opposite corner of the room that doesn't produce much light and is rarely on, other than that, there are no lights in the room. Thanks for the replies, I've grown really fond of this tree and would rather not have it die.

I see a heating radiator in the background. A great number of leaves dropping can indicate a great fluctuation in temperature or stressful VPD, causing the leaves falling off a citrus tree to continue to drop until the tree can handle the temperature once more. For starters what is the RH and air temperature of the room?

Yellowing foliage usually indicates either a lack of fertilizer or overwatering. If your not sure when to water you can buy a Large sustee aqua-meter on amazon which makes watering super simple. I prefer the white meters as white is a nice contrast to the blue indicator. Also a xiaomi 4 in 1 smart monitor plant meter gives you realtime sunlight, moisture, temperature, and soil fertility.

The air temperature sits around 70 degrees and rarely fluctuates. As far as I know the radiator in the room doesn't function. I'm not entirely sure of the humidity, but it's 50% 1 floor down. I have a key lime, olive, and satsuma tree in the same general area which are all doing well if that helps at all when it comes to environmental factors. Thanks for the help.
