Ideas on footprint & layout thoughts (photos)
Comments (14)Thanks for the replies - great "objective perspective" here, just like I thought! You're right Deedles and palimpest, the nook will probably be too small to be of use if there is counter seating. It was actually my idea to try and utilize that strange nook with 3 windows for additional seating, because DD1 was hoping to just have the counter/peninsula seating. Live wire oak, I'm afraid if the whole peninsula is eliminated, there won't be much cabinet storage left. The plan is to get rid of the cabinets over the peninsula to open up the space to the soffit (revamped with recessed lighting) which has to stay because of 2nd floor plumbing. Here are a few more pix one of the exterior showing what the bumpout looks like from the back yard. We had thought about bumping out the whole kitchen to the back side of the nook bumpout, but as you can see it really isnt feasible as I can see. Also tried to think of a way to incorporate the nook INTO the kitchen, but the windows are lower than counter height, so that would not work either. Anyway - a few more. Back of house with nook bumpout: looking toward the nook from the kitchen: Refrigerator wall: It's a bit hard to envision that nook, but I guess it will have to be either be ignored or used as a full on nook with no peninsula seating....See MoreMBR Walk-In Closet: Need Ideas & Pics

Instead of bifold doors, have double doors. You can mirror the inside and use both doors to get a good look at your front and back. Here's an example of a closet with double doors. These doors are very wide. I have 18" wide doors, for a 36" wide opening, which is plenty. Inexpensive door mirrors are around 14-16" wide and 60" long, so they can fit easily on the inside of the closet door....See MoreSmall but deep foyer closet - design ideas?
Comments (9)My foyer closet is similar. It's 3.5 by 5.5 deep or so because it's under the stairs. I used a modular closet shelving on the left side floor to top with the shallow shelves. I keep a ridiculous amount of stuff in there. The shelves are 7.5 deep. In the back I have another section mounted that's 26" wide and has hanging rods for extra coats, and shelves underneath for more stuff/boots. I used the IKEA algot system but Elfa and the like have similar options. I still have room to park my vacuums on the right side....See MoreHelp Designing Ikea Pax + Boaxel For Small Walk In Closet
Comments (4)This is the space I have so I'm just trying to make the best of it and I know there is room for improvement over what I have now. It's really more of a reach in with a pivot to the right or left closet instead of a walk in. I was hoping not having all the bulky units and the more shallow shelves with boaxel would help....See MoreJill Monoson
