Fall Plant Swap!

I'm posting for Lisa AKA ishareflowers, who is hosting a fall plant swap/ garden geek get together on the first Saturday in October. October 6th.

I love these swaps, always so much fun to hang out with other garden nerds.

For those who have never been, it's an event not to be missed.

Hi Deirdre, Good to hear from you! Kathy D. told me about this post. I hope to be able to make the swap at Lisa's on Oct. 6. I'm so glad she's having another. Her gardens are so lovely and always put mine to shame when I see her weed-free plantings. I don't really have much to swap, but I can always bring something for the table and plan on some good garden chit chat. It has been a strange summer for sure with the extended heat wave which I did not appreciate. I'll put the 6th on my calendar and see what I can harvest from my garden to bring along. Thanks.

ok, I couldn't stand it since I missed the spring swap! We have decided to skip the other event and come to the plant swap!!!! I find that I do have a few things to bring and have started some things rooting and looking for things to divide! I look forward to seeing everyone! Let the madness begin!

I'm still here, but ZERO rain in the past 28 days has been devastating to my yard and to the plants I had hoped to bring to the swap. In all, we've had 13.1" of rain in the past 6 months; you can't hand-water enough to overcome that kind of deficit. I was in walking boots for 8 weeks for hairline fractures in the metatarsal region of both feet during this time. Also caring for a beloved companion (cat) who had 1/2 of both ears removed due to skin cancer. (Did I mention that I'm probably feeling sorry for myself?!) I still plan on attending. Alice/Susan - let me know what y'all think I need to bring, food-wise, to complement your grilled chicken and marinated slaw. Maybe baked beans? I'll put together a trade list soon. In the meantime, anyone interested in dried snake gourds? They make nice conversation pieces and I have many of them ;-D It's that thing at my elbow. They grew into a patch of variegated ginger and this one was "camouflaged" until recently.

Sorry, I was following the other thread and missed seeing the posts here. karen_w - I will bring several different rose cuttings ( I have Pope John Paul, Mardi Gras, Felicia, Hansa, Peach Drift, Easy to Please, Easy Does It, etc, etc) I would love the Pink Pet and Millenium Allium. lorabell_gw -Is the Alpinia hardy here or does it need to be brought indoors? If it can stay outside, please bring some for me. Jaimie - I will bring an Arundo Peppermint Stick and Mardi Gras for you. Bring me anything you like. Fragrant, shade loving are always welcome. But anything is fine.

Well, as you all know our wonderful plant swap has been put on hold. But while waiting for things to settle down so we can meet again this is a fun read from Felder Rushing's blog; Plant Swap Treasures: Pssst! I got jewels of Opar and a string of pearls… wanna make a deal? Among other neat things he talks about is the back story of the common name for Talinum paniculatum. Wow! I'm a Tarzan fan from the old comic book days and I never knew that! Happy gardening! :-)

Just wanted to list what I plan to bring to the swap so far.

Campania Pink Octopus, Salvia Hians, and Physocarpus Diablo Ninebark.
