Help with Weed Identification

Can anyone id this weed for me, and suggest a way to control it? It's taking over the vinca minor and I'd sure like to get rid of it and encourage the vinca to come back. It has a shallow root and fairly long runners, and pulls up easily, but there's just too much of it to do by hand. It's also invading a hillside that has Dead Nettle on it, but I think the Nettle will eventually win. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like Japanese stilitgrass. This seems to be the season for it, as it has turned up numerous times recently on a variety of forums.

The only way to prevent more of it is to remove it now. It hasn't flowered or set seed . It's an annual weed.

It looks like Pigweed , perhaps Redroot Pigweed - Amaranthus retroflexus. I would pull and dispose of it before that seed matures.

well .. remove it .. and mulch the heck out of the area ... to dissuade old seed ...

the vinca can also be heavily mulched... and just pulled up thru the mulch ...

and fall would not be a bad time.. to pull up.. and i mean just rip up hunks of the vinca .. and spread it over any bigger area you want to cover with it .... by spring it should take off like a rocket ... maybe that whole area that has the weed in it.. if you wish ...

no need to treat vinca with kid gloves ... and it roots freely.. and propagates easily ....
