white oak floors and red oak staircase

We're remodeling a home and have installed white oak all throughout. The stair railing and balusters are all in good shape but are red oak. We stained the floors with minwax oil based provincial and they came out lighter than I thought they would. Lucky for me, I love the way the floors look but when we started staining the stair railings it was darker and more red. Is there any color that I could use that might be a little lighter on the red oak and less red but would compliment/blend with the provincial ? Or do I go darker to help take out the red, maybe mix dark walnut with the provincial, even though I prefer not to go darker? I appreciate any advice, It was a lot of work refinishing the railings and balusters and I want to get it right!
