Staircase...flooring match stain on staircase or what other options?
Comments (18)Real wood or engineered. Pre-finished is a good way to go. Clear is a higher grade of hardwood that has less variation in color and more uniform with less knotholes, so not as rustic and busy looking and less of a statement. Character grade has lots of variation and knotholes. It depends on your taste. I tried to find pics of what I suggested and couldn't find the right combo, but this pic shows the lighter flooring used on the risers to tie it in. This shows an interesting riser treatment. The tile could include both wood colors. This shows darker stairs with a contrasting floor that contains the stair color and other lighter colors....See Morewhat light colour floor to match these stairs?
Comments (10)whoa,,tearing out real wood to put in vinyl? is that current wood floor able to be sanded and refinished? much better option and much better look. (not to mention no downgrade. vinyl would be a downgrade) are you leaving the tile entry? try and remember, that when the owners move out all of that furniture w/diff wood tones, and you paint the room, the floors will look entirely different. I couldn't even recommend any thing LVP that would be better than what's there now. personally I would do something w/the wood bannister and stair treads. that oak is very orange....See MoreSwitching to hard flooring -- matching existing flooring
Comments (17)The wood in the kitchen is Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry). It is an exotic hardwood that has TWO different colour schemes: orange/brown/fiery OR pink/purple/mud-brown (yes...purple...I kid you not). The FUN part of Jatoba (tongue firmly in cheek) is it STARTS OUT life looking like a tame looking 'walnut' brown. It will look NOTHING like the existing floor. And then the COLOUR fires up and BAM! You have colour galore. Jatoba is photosensitive which is a big word that means 'it gets darker/stronger in colour' Just when you thought all the excitement was OVER...your floor turns purple. Not the orange/red/fiery colour of your EXISTING floor...Nope...you 'lucked out' and got the purple option. Go ahead and google 'pink brazilian cherry floors'. You will find dozens of this type of colouring. Buyer beware. Your stunning wood floor *might not be so easy to match. If it were my house, I would remove the wood and the carpet and start again with a wood you want....not one that you inherited....See MoreDESIGN HELP: stair stain colour that matches smokey brown flooring
Comments (1)Use a mix of Espresso (3:4) and Jacobean (1:4). It will be super dark and the Jacobean will keep the red in the red oak under wraps. The Jacobean will also prevent the treads from looking like they are painted black. Where are the red oak treads?...See Morenconover25
