Help, sticky residue on new kitchen cabinets.

We have recently had a new gloss kitchen fitted and as there was still some touching up to do on the paintwork we kept the plastic protective covering ( like cling film) on the doors. We have removed the covers today and on one side of the kitchen they came off easily in one piece and the cupboards are lovely and glossy. On the other side we have had to pick the covers off in small pieces and the cupboards now have a smeary residue all over them. The sun plays on the cupboards on this side so I suppose they have become more firmly attached to the cupboards.

My question is therefore, how do I remove the residue so I have nice glossy cupboards that match the other side of the kitchen?

Sorry about the long explanation.
