Late Season and Rebloom?
Comments (27)Here are the plants that I've seen rebloom on this year: Siloam Rainbow Magic (M) put up another scape as the first one was finishing up. There are only two fans. Blue Sheen (M) started Early and is continuing to send up new scapes. My plant is now 3 years old and this is the first year it has done this. Bonnie Barbara Allen (M) is blooming on one scape and sending up a rebloom scape. Victoria's Secret (MLRe) has just finished blooming and a rebloom scape is coming up on the same fan. Only two fans to this plant bought last year. Jersey Spider (MLRe) will have bloomed three times this year. It put up a very early scape, followed by a large number of scapes blooming at a similar time (still blooming right now) and now more are starting to come up. This plant started out as a single fan last spring, sent by a friend. It is now a multi-clump plant. Open Hearth (M) sent up a rebloom scape while the other scapes were blooming. Japanese Butterfly (ML) sent up a rebloom scape just as the first one was finishing up. There are two fans to this plant bought last year. Prairie Blossoms (ERe) started very early and sent up some rebloom scapes, so that I had constant bloom since early June. It has just finished blooming. Like Debra, I have had rebloom on Techny Peace at least once or twice in 6 years. It's a gorgeous plant and has had buds killed by frost in years it was still blooming in October. Comments (7)Rita, Hooray for your scapes, whether you get to see them open or not. If the plants aren't really established, hopefully they will do it again next year, only earlier! I know how strong a focus you have had on choosing plants that will rebloom for you, so am happy for you to see a success! My Celebration of Angels rebloomed like crazy for me in early October, and has just put up two more scapes. Sounds like our temps are very similar right now, but my blooms just haven't been able to open for the last several weeks. I have finally started cutting the scapes when they get close to opening, and bringing them inside. The color isn't as great, but I have had at least several blooms from each scape open for me in my kitchen window. One was a first bloom on one of my seedlings, so at least I got to get a hint of an idea of what it is going to look like. Most years I too have been able to pick rose boquets (kind of shabby ones, but they were fresh flowers from the gardens!) for the table for Thanksgiving, and often for Christmas. We really don't get much cold until January, if at all. The amount of rain tends to melt anything blooming however. Most of my annuals have melted globby flowers on them at this point... nothing like the still pretty ones in your latest pics. It's always so sad to see the garden go to bed........ Comments (18)I think Party Pinafore was bud building, Debra, but it is finished now. It is not listed as a bud builder, but i know it was on its last 2-3 buds for a long time. It bloomed right at 2 months, supposed to have 16-20 buds but most of the scapes had 25 or more. Really good year for it, I hope that does not mean it won't bloom next year....See Moreorganic_kitten
