Regarding getting your floor plan posted here: You have several options... Take the plan that you have in the first link of your original post and annotate it with measurements...the walls/windows/doors...the entire length of a wall as well as the distances b/w the windows/doors and surrounding walls. Instead of posting the link, though, post the picture itself. I don't exactly know how to do it using the "Floor Planner" software you're using, but if you can create a jpeg file (usually w/a "jpg" extension), then you can post it here using the following (taken from the "Read Me" thread): Copy the following into the "Message" box where you want the picture to be: Next, replace the http://www.XXX/image.jpg with the address of the image. When you "preview" the message, you should see the picture Using graph paper, draw out your kitchen to-scale Label the walls, etc. (like I mentioned above) Take a digital picture of it. Upload it to your photo hosting site (in your case, Flickr) Post it here (I don't know the exact steps for Flickr, but there should be a place to get the html code that looks something like the example above) You can get free graph paper online. Search for "graph paper". Using the free online graph paper I mentioned above, take a screenshot of it PC: use the "Alt" + "Print Screen" keys if you have XP or earlier or the "Snipit" tool if you have Vista or Windows 7) Mac: I don't know! Paste it into a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (or similar software) Using rectangles, boxes, lines, etc., draw up your kitchen space. Using text boxes, label the walls, etc. (like I mentioned above) Save it as a "JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)" Upload it to your photo hosting site (in your case, Flickr) Post it here

I'm going to do something like the first pic luckyblueeye posted above. A little conversation area, 2 chairs and an ottoman. When you say you like the table long ways....do you mean short end of table to short end of island? I think it looks a little odd but I don't know what else to do. I was thinking I'd get a large round table but I don't think I'll have enough walk room on either side of the table since I want to have my hutch and something else decorative on the other wall. I love having the table closer to the kitchen area though.

Rock works reasonably well when used in dry area like Nevada or inland California or other deserts, but in damp areas, when dust, organic debris, and seeds blow in, the seeds sprout and then you have weeds which are difficult to remove from rock. You will likely be using a weed torch if there isn’t landscape fabric under the rock or if there is fabric, either a lot of herbicide within a couple of years or hiring someone to haul out all the rock.

Well it depends on the size of the transom. A traditional transom will not. if it is a larger and or operable transom possibly. A lot depends on your ceiling height as well as the outside elevation with that. If light is your goal you can do both if it works on the outside elevation. Also you can do a regular size window inside a shower. Or two smaller square windows.......the possibilities are endless but I try to not elimate existing windows where possible especially when it gives the opportunity for function and light. lower cabinets although tall ones.....i would go counter height with window above.
