Glass backsplash cracked :(

I have a backpainted glass backsplash, installed about a year ago. Since installation I have noticed that it gets hot where my gas oven vents, though I have been careful not to let heat from the back burners affect it. I just noticed a crack, from side to side, across a lower corner, about 3-4 inches long, after I used the oven at high settings for an extended period. It is flat and intact.

I pretty much have to DIY whatever solution I come up with. My preference is something thin-ish that would adhere to the existing cracked glass - the panel above the stove is separate and just behind the stove. It would have to be heat resistant. Ideas?

The other solution would be to pry out the cracked panel, which I'm a little worried about attempting, and tile or something in that area. Would peel and stick tile work if it got hot?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

Replace it all with tempered glass. Which it should be to begin with. Plain glass is a giant safety hazard that you don’t want to season your food with.

didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )

Does the cracked section of backsplash sit on a solid slab, or does it span any seams? Although I think you should get what you're paying for (uncracked stone), if the cracks aren't noticeable to others, and if the chance of future cracking is minimal, you might want to skip the hassle. IIRC, I've read that epoxied cracks are stronger than the surrounding stone. Maybe this will catch the attention of one of the pros. Good luck! ETA link to thread about cracked granite. No one would notice that tiny crack in one tile, in a very nice kitchen. Put your soap dispenser there, or a kitchen towel, or a small plant. It is too minor to worry about.

Wait for the installer to correct this. 100% silicone sealant was required in the first place for this exact reason. Most grout manufacturers make a matching silicone sealant. Caution needs to be taken not to scratch the counter top when removing grout. Are you confident in your ability to work with silicone? Once you touch it you assume liability. If you google, you can buy custom cut tempered glass relatively inexpensively. Or, if it fits, check out IKEA tempered glass tops/shelves. Many of their dressers, credenzas, tables offer tempered glass tops.
