Daconil shelf life

I was surprised to see in the TechPac MSDS for Daconil that the recommended shelf life is 1-2 years. Whaaa? My quart of concentrate is enough for many years. Have people used it successfully when it is older than that? Interestingly, this link - http://www.wyomingextension.org/agpubs/pubs/MP93-5.pdf suggests that at least Daconil can be frozen. Many pesticides and fungicides can't.

Daconil/chlorothalonil is also used for spraying peach trees to prevent peach leaf curl. I now date my bottle when I buy it as it seems to last for 7 years but when I tried some that was 8 years old I had very poor results.

I always hate using this stuff as so thick it is hard to even rinse it off my measuring spoons.

Thanks. I figured as much. Shelf lives are arbitrarily set by the producer partly in order to get people to buy more. I have to assume that the conditions in which it is stored affect shelf life. I have a shed outside that gets up to 110F in the summer. Many pesticides can't take that.

I'd suggest that you call the toll free number on the label, if it is still legible. Shelf life of chemicals is determined by the kind of container, exposure to sunlight, excessive heat, freezing temperatures, and the kind of concentrate (solution, emulsion, etc.) I'd think that 5 years is too long, unless it has been stored in very ideal conditions.

Here in Michigan in the winter we can only get things like citrus fruits, tomatoes and avocados that have been shipped long distances. Other things, like fresh figs, are too fragile to be shipped with any certainty. Something that doesn't involve a lot of chemicals and would actually allow a tomato to taste like a tomato would be a great idea. Annie

Moisture exposure has the greatest deterioration effect so transferring it from cardboard boxes to plastic airtight containers is the best route. Powders last longer than liquids. People have reported buying decades-old boxes of Tide and other powders via eBay and found them to be largely still viable.
