Small living room and need help
I have s square shaped living room. I‘m not thrilled with the set up but not sure what else to do. Hang TV over mantle? Don’t really want to buy a new sofa. We have a gorgeous shag rug but I’ve removed it for now since we have new puppy! Any and all ideas appreciated.

Comments (13)I wouldn't do that fireplace surround. It's jus not a good look w/the type room/decor you have. try it elsewhere. try craigslist and similar sources for rugs, tables, shelving. as for the room layout, for the wall that's next to the doorway, and to the right of window (pic #3 up top) what if you did some cool shelving or book cases? I'd also look into doing some sort of shade or blind instead of those bulky drapes. This is a simple layout you could copy. a larger sofa w/a chaise would work for that room better than your two sofas. if doing a tv, try a shallow console and mount the tv to the wall. you can do a 'coffee table' by utilizing an ottoman or something similar. this type of sofa against the large windows would work out better. notice the blinds, nice contrasting paint color on the walls, colorful rug, potted plants. same layout. Imagine your windows are behind the sofa. shallow shorter shelving on the opposing wall is great for kids toys and books. mount tv. fabric ottoman for coffee table. neutral rug....See MoreNeed help with small, narrow living room with fireplace
Comments (24)I did read them. We were looking for a firm sofa and plan to go more cozy with the chairs. Comments (10)I like those sleepers too; here we call them "clickers" or "click-clacks." They are hard to find, and most links take you to futons which are not the same thing. I have one in my vacation rental cabin. For your space, I would prefer a small scale sectional on the two wall sunder the windows. No curtains, but top down/bottom up shades where you can block roof top views or electric lines or all of it. Add a large storage coffee table. I like this one myself and it comes in a blonde finish too that might be better for the beach. Get a pair of floor lamps (not dated torchieres) for each end of the sectional. Then I would center the TV/FP on its wall and add one or two swivel chairs perpendicular to it. In the corner where you have the kitchen chairs, you might try a game table with a pair of chairs for checkers, chess, scrabble or monopoly. How about a new, more beachy wall color like Sea Salt to work with your sandy beach carpet? Last of all, upgrade your art and wall hangings. 5 years agoYour pretty vase on the mantle, might stand on it's own between the door frame and your TV stand, or in the corner behind your pretty table and lamp? Group object together and eliminate al the fussiness on the mantle.
Floor lamp is way too large for the corner. I have replaced the floor lamp and adjusted the wall decor. I would consider moving the chair over to the sofa if you have a chest to place in the corner
