Please help with coping and paving around pool/backyard
Comments (5)We built a pool in Brooklyn about 7 years ago and the patio material was Travertine set in mortar, not dry laid. It is a honed/polished finish that does not have the cracks and fissures on the standard material. The coping was also travertine in 6' lengths 14" wide 2" thick. This too is honed. The color is a creamy light tan. We installed a SWG system and also an ozone system which we updated in the last 3 months. The newer ozone system will nearly eliminate the need for chlorine. This pool is 12'x30' about 14-15,0000 gallons. We have used quartzite before and it's a nice material even in direct sun. The color variations are nice. Bluestone will get very hot in the direct sun, Most dark colors tend to hold the heat as well. We have used limestone extensively and prefer it in a sunny location. The color ranges are nice and compliments other colors and materials, and it does not get hot in the sun. Tennessee crab stone is a nice looking stone but it does flake as it is soft. Feel free to check our Houzz site for examples of our work. There are many pools with limestone patios and coping....See Morehelp to design access to backyard from deck
Comments (6)Yes thank you, we will be working with one but for now seeking input as we think through the way we want our space to function. We are looking for advice on houzz to see if anyone has suggestions that would address our design dilemma of the huge raised door in the centre of the building and incorporating a hot tub....See MoreBackyard design help: incorporate a garden with an existing pool area?
Comments (2)I would center the garden area with chicken coop on the backside of the pool. Make a wider grand entrance and transition possibly using an arbor. The way you show it to the side does not balance. If possible I would put the shed along a wall on the back of the house convenient for the pool suppplies. I would place all gardening tools in an area back with the chickens as this will be closer for gardening as well. Best wishes!...See MoreHelp Please, Need backyard design ideas
Comments (14)Hmm not a kid friendly back yard for sure. Running a jack hammer is really not all that impossible and given your concrete is chunked with all the lines I see you could easily start near the grass and see how much you want to break up /remove. You are lucky you will have defined places to stop with no weird chopped edges given the blocking I see. What do you want for your child? I see all these super expensive play sets--and given the lifestyles of most families very little time at home to play on it is available. Back in the day we got away with a LARGE sand box, a swing under a raised deck (sand box was under the deck) and a Little Tyke's large climbing/slide apparatus. The wait a year and see is tough as kids grow fast and they need what they need NOW. If we are talking toddler #1 right now I would be hitting the garage sales and buying every riding toy I could find. We had a fleet of those things and quite a race way in our unfinished basement!! All that cement is premium rolling space. A kiddie pool will fit in one of your grassed areas...optimize what you have!!...See Morewh916
