I really appreciate the feedback from everyone, and your concern that my treadmill be used. Yayagal, your comment was hilarious. What a sense of humor! Apparently the fold up screen is not a big deal. I will wait several months as several have suggested to see how this plays out. If putting it into position becomes too difficult, I'll move it into the garage and exercise out there. There is no way I'm going to have a treadmill sitting in a nicely furnished room -- that's just me. The other bedroom has a bed taking up almost the entire room, which is where I sleep. If it stays inside, I'll post photos for feedback.

I don't know if this would appeal to you but the only curtains I could find in the right color for my last house's master bedroom were tab tops which were too countryish-looking for the room. I carefully trimmed off the tabs and slipped the rod through the hem at the top, below where the tabs used to be. It looked great, like they were supposed to be rod-pocket curtains to begin with. If the curtains do not meet in the middle, I'd paint the rod black or some other color compatible with your room - if you painted them to the wall color the curtains may end up looking like they are "floating"! - although if you're using sheers on the inner rod make sure that rod is the same color as the sheers so there is no show-through. Do you sew well enough to buy an extra curtain or two and make valances to match the curtains you've chosen? I do feel your pain about the nice old things you have not fitting the windows in the new house... I have some drapes that I just love that I can't use here because the ceilings are a foot higher and the windows a foot longer than they were in my previous house. Feh!

I bought 2 similar idea sorta wagon wheel . I used the small solar lights in them and put them on a pole cemented in a hole in the yard . I may use another one I have and hang from a tree limb with a chain use battery tea lights or even better are the white fingertip lights I got from Amazon..little lights kids wear on fingers on Halloween..they have colors too but they do not throw as.much light. They are great for the glass light covers that are at all the thrift stores. Great for parties n just sitting outside. These types can line a walkway when u have company. These r cool because they are bright n cheap.

We could all make our favorite guess and all be wrong. I think you need to dig down and see what it's hooked to for your next clue. If it runs off in another direction below ground, you might see if you can dig another intercept hole(s) some distance away, trying to trace the route. It shouldn't take too long before you figure out where it's going and what it is/was for. It may be useful to you. If it has no present or future use, you can cut off below ground and get rid of it.
