Can you help this dining room?
Comments (32)"I'm really digging the chair on the right in aktillery's post. My sentiments exactly. But only if they are comfy." Me too, or three. :>). However, whenever I see wood seats for dining, my first thought is lack of comfort. Our company dinners, or family holiday meals, tend to go on for hours. Can't imagine that occurring seated on wood alone. Your home has a lovely serene appeal. I understand the need for shade. ***Woven wood would work nicely. I'm not a fan of cellular shades, but they do have the nice feature of almost disappearing . I'd choose them in a neutral...not white. ! ...To blend with your walls...if you go with a shade of tan. Love the darling pups ! *** we are close, as you know. I do have a good local source for window coverings .( no curtains). Send me an email you need....See MoreEmpty space dilemma
Comments (6)You really don't have to put something on every wall, but my suggestion would be to move the bench from the dining table and put it in that spot, so guests have a place to take off shoes. Art could go above. Yes change the way the mirror is hung over the console and put something taller on the top instead of "little" things. A lamp would be great, but I don't see an outlet to plug it into....See MoreEmpty space Entry Space
Comments (3)Can you post a pic of the entire room where the fireplace is? Is the other door (in 1st pic) the front entrance. I'll be honest and say that it looks very cluttered to the eye. I think it's more all the stuff on the walls and door. Maybe you can create a true gallery wall vs the mismatched frames, etc, if you are wanting stuff on the wall above sofa table. Does that sofa need to stay? What is it directed towards? Also, have you considered built-ins (closed storage) flanking the window? Could be double duty as a mudroom of sorts. If you keep fish tank, it could be encased in the built in....See More1 YEAR LATER AND STILL EMPTY ENTRY WAY
Comments (11)Wells bells Amy... If you still have those couple arched mirrors from other postings and haven' filled those holes with sconces yet.. And YES! you can still build in a big ole bookshelf in that area too.. Get radical. Put up those mirrors to center on new sconces- it will require some glass cutting to do it. Find a good local cabinet/wood maker to build you a centerpiece of a bookshelf upper, with some lower bench/sitting bits. I would suggest doing it up on legs instead of flush to the floor. And keep the woodwork in mind, fit the whole thing to that, like it was always built in there. If the opposite? wall of other posts of yours still have that gorgeous framework and hanging lights... Open that up too with mirrors, perhaps a coathook/ bench space to mirror the bookcase.. but not necessarily the same mirrors- coordinate rather than match. Hanging lights to work with the sconces on the bookcase wall....See MoreKitchen & Bath Galleria
