Relatively continuous bloomers for Maryland?
Comments (25)I never got good repeat from either AWAKENING or NEW DAWN, and the fragrance was never more than moderate in strength. Most of time I couldn't smell a thing. The VIKING QUEEN I gave my MIL repeat bloomed the first year as a tiny own root band. Last year my MIL sprayed VQ once a month and the glossy, deep green foliage remained spotless. This year she hasn't sprayed at all and the gorgeous climbing rose is still clean as a whistle. The fragrance IS consistently stronger. My MIL lives in MD, USDA Zone 6a. As for which rose is more beautiful, judge for yourself. Here is an image posted by Zeffyrose on the "Your favorite climber for a pergola" thread back in June, 2010. VIKING QUEEN is on the left, and NEW DAWN is on the right....See MoreIf you can remember, your most prolific bloomers
Comments (5)I'm wondering if you are giving these plants long enough to prove themselves. Sometimes it takes a daylily three years to really settle in and strut its stuff. You posted earlier that you were getting rid of some that are very good performers here. Scarlet Orbit, for example, is a good performer that I would never consider getting rid of. The same goes for Absolute Treasure, which was on your earlier list. This another thing I've found. While a daylily might be a top performer one year, it might have disappointing performance the next year. For example, some that have three cycles of bloom here one year, may have poor bud count and no rebloom the next. They kind of wear themselves out overperforming. Another thing that zaps a plant's energy is setting a lot of pods on it, which I have been known to do. That said, these were my best performers last year: Mister Bubbles Ruby Lipstick Adamas Moonlight Sail Shores of Time Mardi Gras Parade August Frost North Wind Dancer Freedom's Triumph Kokopelli Cameroon Night Old King Cole Flying Carpet Eye On A String Brooklyn Twist Cretaceous Crunch Ada May Musick El Desperado Debra...See MoreYour most frequent bloomers
Comments (4)Dont really do anything special.... I originally had it in my corner East/south window... basically on a table away from the window.... but it gets alot of light... It had at least 12 peduncles on it and it flowers non stop... I probably water it 2 a week but I never soak it... and the heat would be normal household temperatures - well in a hot window... Anyways then I decided to move it to my garden window which is East... but gets direct sun in the mornings... I fertilize it here and there... not really any method.. sort of diluted fertilizer almost every time I water... IN the SUMMER only... I sometimes use 20 20 20... I change up to 15 30 15 and sometimes I even use my schultz Bloom plus 10 60 10.... So I kinda give it everything - lol... How old are yours Patrick? I have had mine for about 3 years but I did start it from a cutting... Anyways GOOD LUCK Patrick! Im sure you will love the fragrance... the only lousy part is - the flowers only last about a day or so.......See MoreYour most continuous bloomer that's also black spot free?

Nearby Cantigny Park had Calypso, it's cutie floribunda and so healthy despite humidity and rain. "My Girl" rose was lovely, blooms are prettier than knock-out, pretty foliage and clean ... so glad that they got rid of red-knock-out. My Girl rose is in the "Easy Elegance" series, bred by Ping Lim, very hardy up to zone 4a. Ping Lim bred his roses in Minnesota, which can withstand a high amount of acidic rain. What makes My Girl special is it's long-lasting on the bush, and in the vase. When other roses: pink Knock-out & Home-run petals are shattered by heavy rain, "My rose" shines because it retains its petals despite the heavy rain. For more pics. of the roses at Cantigny park, zone 5a, see below link: Cantigny gardens: roses, McCormick mansion, war museum & perennials (houzz.com)...See Moreflowersaremusic z5 Eastern WA
