Help with window treatment Large picture window
Comments (2)I have a window that is about 114 inches wide (made up of 3 windows like yours), maybe about 54 inches long as well. I currently have wood blinds, outside mount, and I do NOT like them. I am going to replace them with curtains . . .I just need to sew them! Here is why I don't like them: (1) You will be getting 3 different blinds, one for each window. There is no guarantee that the blinds will match up perfectly. I called the co. to complain, and they said it can be off within a certain distance per their standards, and if it exceeds that, the would replace them . . .but it was within that range, so no. (2) Open, the outside mount doesn't look so bad. Closed, yuck! I think it looks messy. (3) On a large window, it's a whole lotta blinds going on. Very, very angular, a lot of lines. If you were going with an inside mount, at least you could put curtains up to soften the edges, but with an outside mount-- not so much. On mine, the blinds are connected to something that looks like moulding, so I guess you could put up a rod that projects past that for a valance, but like I said, with an outside mount, panels would be harder. Just my 2 cents. I know some people who visit LOVE my blinds, so who knows. When I got them measured, I had it done professionally. People will come and give you free estimates and do measurements then....See MoreQuestion about window treatment for large picture window
Comments (6)Thanks for the advice. I have ordered some swatches from Pottery Barn of their Peyton linen look drape. Hopefully one of the colors will work. I also looked at Country Curtains but didn't see anything that had the linen look that i am seeking. Does anyone know of a good source for drapery panels with that are linen )or look like it?)...See MoreWindow treatments for large windows...on a budget
Comments (4)Fabric Roman shades would be great. I found the best prices at blindsgalore - we just got new shades from them in December for our bedroom and were very pleased. Blindsgalore.com I just got on the website and priced 74" wide x 42" long (just a guess); with their current 33% sale going on, that size priced out at ~ $175. Lots of colors/patterns/plain....See MoreWindow Treatments for Large Windows
Comments (10)Here's a closeup pix of the IKEA Lenda panels. Ikea's pix are miserable...doesn't give you much of an idea what you're buying. They do come with tabs which I don't care for so I cut them off, fold over to the length I need and flip it; turning the top into the bottom of the panel. (They even send the fusible tape to hem with :) I then use clip rings. They come in 2 lengths, both extra long. They have a rich look; it's hard to believe how little they cost; especially compared to most of the crap panels out there. That darker stitching you see is a nice detail....See MoreScott Strickler
