What kind of door should I put at the top of the stairs?
Comments (4)French doors would be fine as long as they did not open over the stairway and were not in the way when open. What you are trying to prevent is heat rising by convection to the upper floor so all that is needed are doors or heavy curtains that will prevent excessive air flow. The rate of heat transfer is proportional to the temperature difference so the heat that is transferred through the doors would be minor unless the upper floor will be below freezing or leaks air a lot....See MoreShould i put my Variegated Lemon tree under the carport when it rains
Comments (8)If anything, unless you don't have drainage holes, it will just stay evenly moist. If I could leave mine in rain all day too for days, I would..What does the mix feel like? Does it feel sopping wet, or just moist? I would though make sure it is getting fertilized on a regular basis at this time or that you are using a slow release one along with your regular regimen)...See MoreHow should I decorate the area under the stairs?
Comments (6)Here's a link to the other thread you started on this subject with some replies. Have to say these new pics are helpful to see what else is going on there and it's so much nicer/prettier than your first pictures: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/4515878/how-should-i-decorate-the-area-under-the-stairs Now that we can see more of the area and how the stairs are configured, I think I'd just arrange your furniture however it works best for the way you'll use the room (I'm not sure if you're asking for furniture arrangement help or ?) and put a small chest up against the base of the stairs. Maybe something a little vintage, not too deep? something fun and unexpected, colorful?...See MoreWhat lighting should I put in my entry way?
Comments (16)OK that helps. Bringing in the black will really help your overall look. Black helps "ground" a space. Here is a look that might be interesting and different for your high volume entry space. The glass globes hang from a center plate and you can design whatever look you want because each glass globe hangs independently. Believe it or not, it is pretty inexpensive as fixtures go for large, high ceiling spaces. This is a large home I did a couple years ago and with this turning staircase and a long window that faced outside, we wanted a "statement". This did it and didn't break the bank. You can get different numbers of glass balls as well. A good lighting store could help you do something like this....See Morebee_alex_ais
