How many photos can I include in my post?

You can include up to four photos in each post or comment on Houzz.

You can find instructions on including photos here.

After spending 15 minutes or more on writing a new thread, I lost it when trying to submit it. I then found the above information. My post had six photos.

But then, there are other threads where posts include more than four photos. Confusing! I've written Houzz requesting clarification.

I have been able to do 4 but Houzz reduced the size some how. If I stick to three that seems to work best. You can also do multiple post continuing the thread with more new photos.

It is confusing isn't it. I seem to recall mbug posting 14 pics in his OP not comments.

Until they get this glitch straightened out I would be tempted to write in Word or Office whatever and then paste it here. I am such a slow typist, your 15 min. would likely be double that for me lol.

Bobbi, Phyllis from THS just told me the absolutely easiest (IMHO) way to post an image if you just have it stored on your computer: Go to Tinypic.com, click on 'upload', browse your files to get the picture, upload the picture from your computer and (the scanned photos have to be "Valid formats: jpg,png,bmp,gif,tif "). It will probably take a minute to upload. Choose the HTML file (the top string of code), not the IMG. Right click on that code, choose 'copy', and then: Come back to the forum you wish to post the picture in, type your message, THEN under your message, in the SAME box, right click and 'paste' that first line from tinypic.com Hit preview to make sure it 'took' - if not, try again. I just posted a picture of my Grandsons and their friend on the Kitchen Table site. There is also a test site on the main page here, that you can post a practice attempt.

I didn't mention this on the last thread because I thought it would have been too technical. When talking about 'size' of a digital photo, it can refer to two separate, though often related things. The physical size of the picture on the screen, and the file size of the information necessary to show the photo. Physically large pictures mess up the thread formatting. Large file sizes are the ones that take forever to download. So these two photos have the same file size, just the html commands determing photo size are different. The first is 240 px, the second is 1000. You can start to see some fuzziness in the second picture where there really isn't enough information.

DtD: I thought that I'd covered that in this section: "Desirable sizes are either "thumbnails" which some hosting sites provide, or something close to 640 X 480 pixels. "Medium" or "Small" varies from program to program, so don't rely on it. (see corunum/Jane's discussion in the previous thread)." I'll try to make it stronger in the next revision, probably using the 640 X 480 pixels size as a maximum (unless someone has a better suggestion). Of course, these are just recommendations, and people can't be forced to abide by them. I don't want to make the process onerous, I'd rather someone just get a photo posted for the first time even if it's really big, and then the next ones can be posted in a more suitable size. You upload them to a website like Photobucket. In there it gives you the info you need to cut/paste into your post in GW so the picture will show up in your post. There's a test area on GW where you can try it before posting in a regular area. If you search the forum for how to post pictures you will probably find some more detailed instructions.

Good plan Peren.all. It is so frustrating to write a perfect paragraph and have it disappear. If you don't want to mess with Word or Office, just do a draft in your own email and copy/paste that into the Houzz forum. Once it is posted just trash the draft.

When I tried to post a photo in a new topic, my photo was too large. I waited and waited for it to appear but it didn't. Then I reduced the resolution size and it posted right away, so I wonder if there is a size limit in there somewhere.

I hadn't thought of using my email to post, and then paste. Thanks for making that suggestion Babka. I don't know what size photo Houzz prefers. Perhaps they will comment on that when they write me.

I try not to upload more than 2 at a time. Otherwise it won't do it for me.

I start with 4 and then edit the same post to add more. I also think there isn't the same limit on replies.

Recently one could edit an OP for up to 30 minutes. So, one could post something, submit, come back and edit adding pictures. I did three on the test forum. Later I will have time to try more, perhaps.

(laptop, W10, Firefox) I gather that mobile devices could be quite different.

Wow, Brandy, only two photos allow for you? There has got to be something different in the size or device being used.

I wasn't aware that one could post four pictures, submit, then edit and add more. Thanks for the information Steve.

Pinkdaisydreams, did you post the four pictures in one forum or in multiple forums? I am wondering if that would make a difference.
