My kitchen has a more contemporary vibe so I went with various sizes of pulls on all my cabinets and drawers. I love having wider pulls so easy to get any size hand around them. Just to help you visualize here are a couple pictures of my pulls. Speaking of coffee mugs... I often wish I'd seen the little shallow shelves that some people tuck under their uppers for that purpose...Or maybe made room to hang mugs. Just something else to think about and confuse the issue, maybe. ;-) I know that this is a whole 'nother option, and seems to fly in the face of my preference for the double door, but if you want to embrace the open shelves and use them more, which I can see happening because of my own experience, I could seriously consider a 12" door (hinging on the left, knob on the right) and 24" of open shelves from it to corner. (Long sentence) But again, it depends on how much open vs closed storage you want in that corner.

cpartist, I did, I don't like the style. I wanted white and they're all too modern looking for my 1926 bungalow. Janelle Van, look at the comments above, one had a link for a sagulator. If you can look at the specs for Ikea's cabinets and see what material the shelves are made of and how thick they are, you can see how much weight you can put on it before there's noticeable sag. Very helpful! latifolia, the new ones are 36" plus 4" crown. There's going to be about a foot between the crown and the ceiling. I'm okay with it. I need a large step stool to reach anything in my top cabinets now and I'm adding 8 cabinets on the other side of the kitchen where there are currently 0. Way more than enough storage!

Lana, please note that the Barnes Custom Builders cabinet is full overlay. The difference between door width on inset cabinets versus full overlay is significant. I have two sets of 33" inset cabinets. Each door is 15.25". If you are planning 27" inset cabinet with double doors, each door will be about 12.25",, depending on the size of your stiles. That's a very narrow door, and the scale may not look appropriate. Since we haven't seen your layout, I am just guessing that it might look better to have a single 24" inset door on either side of the hood. If you post your layout, you may get some other suggestions.
