I'd like to make the walls recede . my goal is to make the open concept rooms feel light. the windows face west. the light will be warm ...I'm not buying new furniture. I've had these Thomasville sofas for 5 yrs :) i spent too much $ on them lol ... along with the $ Thomasville dark red fabric upholstered pie ottoman that breaks into 4 seats or low ottomans.....See MoreI'm going to do a 'quick fix' of my current kitchen :)
Comments (24)That's almost a sand-scrubbed look. Like old Europe. Although sand wasn't necessarily used, many homes had raw wood floors scrubbed to a satiny smooth matte surface.. That tile could be a great start on a Scandinavian look, for instance. Waiting to see the "marble-esque" tile Lavender and assistant like, though. You know, I intended to do a deep golden background to set rich colors against in our bedroom, but I took one glance at my tobacco-brown going on our sloping attic ceiling and ran, not walked, to grab a couple gallons of an inoffensive pale taupe. Nothing like your own conditions. I imagine I over-reacted, but in mine the tobacco looked like a day-glow enhancement of a baby's first diaper, and summers in this climate require all windows be open and an overhead fan blowing all night. So the room is cream, pale taupe, white, brown, and green instead of, as planned, jewel tones (Lavender's fairy tale) with garnet, emerald, topaz....See MoreWe’re buying a house! let’s get some kitchen remodel ideas going!
Comments (54)Here's a suggestion. It hinges on ditching the side porch. Right now your public rooms (kitchen, living) and your private rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms) are all jumbled up. It's better to have public all together on one side of a small home and private on the other. To achieve this, I drew your kiddo's room + the front bathroom as a master suite. I'm hopeful that closing up the existing doorway and opening a new one across from the vanity is an affordable project. Another bummer about your existing layout is the disconnect between your living spaces including your back yard. To remedy this, I put the kitchen where your master bedroom is. It would be so nice to have one larger, open living space that peeks to the backyard. It's hard to tell if it's feasible, but I thought that by closing off the master bedroom door you could create a closet for a stackable washer/dryer outside the bathroom. I'd enjoy working this out on graph paper if you have a chance to measure your rooms. Yours is one of my favorite kinds of . projects!...See MoreWhat wall color above existing-wall tile and what color flooring
Comments (25)I hate to see people spend money to replace what is the ;eat offensive issue. If you love that pink good for you but IMO it is horrible . I would like to hesr form the OP He wants to replace the flooring for god's sake how can that be done without dealing with the rest. IMO the floor is the only thing worth keeping. I need to understand what his plan is . I respect that people can't afford big changes but flooring is abig change to wnat ot do with a ton of really dated stuff. As usual your opinion is just YOUR OPINION. And in this case YOUR OPINION was not asked for! The OP asked what to do with the floors and walls. Pal came up with the same solution I would have suggested. And just because YOU DON"T LIKE IT, doesn't mean other people agree with you....See Moreartistsharonva
